Blackpool in DJ Campbell loan move Published: 28 December 2011 Just six months after the striker left Bloomfield Road to join QPR’s Premier League bandwagon, Pool boss Ian Holloway reckons he could possibly bring Campbell back during next month’s transfer window. Campbell had two loans spells with the Seasiders before joining on a permanent deal in summer 2010 for a club record £1.25m. It proved money well spent as the 30-year-old fired 13 goals and almost kept the club in the Premier League. Unfortunately for Pool, he was unable to resist the lure of his native London and another shot at the top flight. But things haven’t gone to plan for Campbell since his August transfer. He fractured his foot in October and was ruled out for two months. He has started just one game and scored his only goal against Wolves. With Rangers dripping in money after a takeover, manager Neil Warnock is believed to have a transfer kitty of more than £50m and is expected to spend big next month. And Holloway will waste no time in inquiring about the forward should the opportunity arise. The Seasiders boss, who is also in for QPR winger Jason Puncheon, is keen to boost his squad, though he believes the first priority is keeping hold of what he’s got. Holloway said: “We are always on the lookout to sign players but it has proved very difficult in the past to compete with others in this division. “It was almost impossible to hold on to our better players in the summer and we are playing well enough for other teams to be swooping around like vultures again. When this window closes, I’ll be happy if I’ve still got everybody I am using on a regular basis.”
£50m?!!!!!!!!! If true, absolutely amazing. If Defoe signs in time for the Norwich game, I feel will be a very happy new year indeed.
depending on who comes in, maybe letting DJC go out on loan to help him regain his fitness could be an option. Puncheon isn't our player anyway so Ollie can have him
They must have misheard...it is £15 mill, and is 7 or 8 of that from the sale of Tarbs. Really feel for DJ as I think given the chance he will make it in the Prem. Was he injured on Tuesday or kept on ice for the loan?
DJ will only go to 'Pool if we bring in superior fire power. How many hats will be eaten if Cerny Berny's prediction of Defoe coming to W12 prove correct? It would certainly cheer us up.
This article is total bollocks,£50 million to spend, don't make me laugh.I expect us to buy 2-3 players(costing no more than £10 million combined),and to bring in another couple on loan.Forget Defoe,it's alot more likely to be Zamora or Pavleychenko.Surely we could get either Savic,Bridge or Onuoha from City! Also DJ would be good back up for the squad but i fear he has a touch of the Dyer's about him.
Like the idea of Wayne Bridge on loan Hammer. That would allow us to play Traore as out and out winger...
Hoopton, I would not like to see Savic sign. He was pathetic at trying to competre with Helguson, and was at fault for our second goal in 2 ways: his clearance from Traore's cross was awful and he played Helguson onside.
I can't see us letting a goalscorer go anywhere, DJ has had an unfortunate few months with us but he will be handy to have in the squad for the rest of the season and if he finds full fitness is a viable option...
