In some of the big games yes. But in most games we've played a 442 with attacking wingers and with Scholes in the centre alongside only one defense minded midfielder. Even yesterday we played Fletcher out on the right, leaving just Scholes and Carrick in the centre. Whereas Arsenal play a relatively defensive 451 with Wilshire and Song holding in most games, even against clubs like Stoke, Wigan and Wolves at home. That's the main reason we've outscored you in the PL, whereas in Europe where we tend to play with a 451 we've only conceded 1 goal all season, whilst you guys have conceded 7.
I agree with you on this one. its all to easy to shift the emphasis on the referee but Chelsea changed formation at half time and within five minutes of the restart were in total control of the midfield as you were in the first. Chelsea when needed brought on Drogba & Zirkov whereas United brought on Berbatov & Giggs there lies your problems. These games are always close and well contested Chelsea made more of their half of domination than you did. On reflection the result was a fair one.
Honestly I think a draw would've been fair. We had the first half, you had the second. If Luiz had been sent off, it could have been turned out differently. But if ifs and buts were candy and nuts...
Once Vermaelen is fit again I don't see Djourou featuring as much. Sorry but don't get the Clichy - nowhere near the ability of Sagna comment. Clichy is a good LB & Sagna is a good RB. I never slagged of Sagna only said Evra and the shooter where better than Clichy. With reference to goals being conceded, its as Swarbs posted Arsenal usually play with 2 holding midfielders who I must say have played better than their Utd counterparts. This extra cover does provide more protection for the Arsenal defence, considerably more than what Carrick and company have given the Utd back line.
ironic that when most teams get beat they hold their hands up and say "we were rubbish" or "they played better than us", "it wasn't our night" etc etc ............... unless your Alex Ferguson and it's always the refs fault ................ In all games of football theres decisions that go for you, and against you .................. stop moaning and get on with it ................. and as for Rooney the other day, if that had been Barton, Cattermole or Bowyer they would have been sent off with the headlines of " violent thug" plastered all over ..................
Yeah, cos Steve Bruce was so understanding and gracious when you threw your two goal lead away to Brum...
I thought Chelsea just did enough to warrant the win they had more territory, more shots on and off target & more corners by the time Vidic was sent off the game had already been won.
We're going to have to agree to disagree By the way, who are you and what have you done with the real Ginger Marks?
Yes lets do that! but you have just papered over the cracks. Chelsea wanted it more and your presence in the Chelsea half after half time were rare. Cech being a virtual bystander points to that conclusion however painful it may be for you. I'm sure Liverpool will be easier
But before time we were much better than you. Anyway, Liverpool will probably be easier, but not by that much. They always raise their game massively against us (even more than they do against you), and the likes of Konchesky and Kuyt play like Roberto Carlos and Rivaldo. Almost.
