Yes, I chuckled. Mine is to try to stop being so picky. I said try as I probably won't achieve it.

I can't stop smoking because I did that in 2005. I've already cut down on my alcohol consumption, these last 12 months, which hasn't been that high for donkey's years anyway. One thing I am going to do is just try harder. For several years I've stopped being that hard on myself and now has come the time when I've had my wonderful time of it, and I think I need to discipline myself a tad more, and try harder into the bargain.

There you go, a proper, serious New Year's resolution. :)

    - Some of our fans to realise Guly is a huge part of our team.

    - The players to get more shots in and around the edge of the box.

    - Hooiveld to keep taking/doing whatever he's been taking/doing up to this point.

I'll resolve to pay more attention to leagues Saints aren't in. A broader understanding of the game leadss to a greater enjoyment of it.

Seriously, that will be a challenge. There is precious little I like about the PL. Precious little real competition, except amongst about 6 rich clubs, way over hyped, way over covered, way over paid, way over in importance, way over shadows the other 72 professional clubs. Need I go further..? I could. OK, let's have the pluses. Some of the best players and quality of football you'll ever likely to see. Is it worth it for all the negatives and sheer damage it does to real football clubs and football..? Not a chance.

To get my england tattoo covered, got it when I was 17 regret it now. Saints based one: Guly to get his away shooting boots on to fully show he is a class player.

Not until next season at least.

I think my resolution this year will be to watch us win the league for another prize to add to our few.

Also not to gloat too much if Skatepee get relegated.

Every footballer is overpaid not just the prem. It's just the prem is about 100 times more popular then any other english leagues. So they draw in a hell of alot more cash from advertising etc etc.

Are they wrong for doing that? No it's all part of making a business sucessful. The Prem league is one of the most sucessful businesses in the world hence why players, managers etc wages are sky high.

To say Prem football clubs are not real clubs is wrong in a sence , nearly all football clubs these days are now just businesses even us. They just have a bigger platform to charge more money etc.

I'm afraid all of football is now about money. There is no such thing as a real football club these days apart from a very few and some conference and below.
Football=Greed. You just have to accept it and enjoy what sucess if any your club has.

Whilst I agree with much of what you've said, I believe that the money in the game has damaged it at a far more fundamental level. Psychology in sport is pivotal. In fact, I would go so far as to say that it is the single most important facet in building and sustaining success. If you are certain that you are going to win before you step over the white line, the chances are that you will. What I find astonishing therefore is the acceptance by several managers that there are leagues within leagues. At one stage this was tacit. It then became vocalised in repetitions of Sky's Big Four and is now widely discussed by managers as being a top four or five, a six team relegation league and the rest. This is extraordinary! By even giving voice to this kind of categorisation, you make it a self-fulfilling prophesy. And guess what, a few years on from this kind of talk from senior professionals on nine figure salaries, you get what Mick McCarthy did at Manchester United. Much was said about Wolves changing nine players for their trip to Old Trafford and comparisons were drawn to the bigger clubs doing the same in cup competitions. Well there's a bloody huge difference if you ask me. There's no doubt in my mind that SAF makes such changes and still fully expects to win. What Wolves did was a scandal. In any other industry, such talk and behaviour from someone supposedly at the helm would be unacceptable yet there are several of them at it. By definition, this means that the they are simply echoing their own club/chairman's sentiments. That's a shocking attitude in general, but in sport it's an outrage.

Anyway, back on topic, I've got my first child on the way and am determined to be a non-smoker for his/her arrival! I will also ignore Joey B.
