Hi, Alfreton fan in peace. I've just bought Arsenal - Making of a Modern Super Club by Alex Flynn and Kevin Whitcher. I've only read a few chapters but seems very interesting. I'm wondering if any of you guys have read it and what you think? Also, If anybody could recommend any other good football books - more so about football culture as oppsed to autobiographies that would be great. Regards Mr Nice Turning new leafs since March 2011
I found this one quite interesting: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Manchester-DisUnited-Business-Mihir-Bose/dp/1845131215 Although your strong Alfreton leanings may mean you are not interested in the subject club... This one is also worth a look, especially if you are interested in the buying success vs building a team debate, as I understand many Alfreton fans have strong opinions on this subject: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pay-As-You-...=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1299064525&sr=1-1
You might want to try and get a copy of City Psycho's. Can't remember who it's by, but, it's about Hull City fans, from around the 70's to, about, the late 90's and everything that went on re: the violence
Shaun Tordoff. Probably a spoof name but a real book outlining the real mindless violence perpetuated by Hull City "fans" from the mid-sixties onwards.
No, but it was recommended by a mate and I've only seen good reviews for it. It's on my list of books to buy next time I'm in the UK.
Cheers with supplying the authors name. My formative years attending Ibrox in the late 60's through the 70's, then moved "down south" and started following the Gunners
