..This time last year, we were a mess. Roy Bodgson was flapping like a seagull caught in a hurricane, our star striker was as bad as a petulant, sulking teenager and we were sat near the bottom of the table, playing long ball football.

A year on, we have got rid of the awful Hodgson, got £50 million for a sulking striker, and have steadied the ship. We have found a new star in Suarez, yes he's about as popular as Gary Glitter at a children's party, but no one can deny his obvious talent. You can add the like's of Enrique to that, for years we've needed a classy left back, now we have one. Adam is showing his obvious class, and the skipper is close to full fitness. We have a squad with depth and quality, something we have not had in years. We have a manager who understands what this club is all about, and deals with the idiots in the press with total distain.

People expect instant success, but we have a long way to go after the damage Hicks and Gillette caused, NESV will support Kenny and invest when needed. But they are building for the future, not the here and now. The youth set up has been overhauled, and we now have genuine quality youngsters who will be the next generation of Liverpool hero's. Sterling,Morgan,Wisdom and others will be household name's for years to come.

We are nowhere near the finished article, and after the mess of the last few years getting champions league football again is a bonus. It would be great, but more importantly is seeing the club moving forward. There are alot of positives to be taken out of the last 12 months, so maybe people should stop and think what a difference a year makes.

Excellent post mate, some of the doom and gloom merchants on here ought to think back over that short 12 months and consider the progress we have made as a club. Sure, we would all like instant success, but it ain't gonna happen I'm afraid. It was stated at FSG's arrival, and again at KD's appointment, that this was a long term project, and not a quick fix, so have patience.
I think true supporters of the club realise this, and can see we are heading in the right direction.

100% agree. People need to remember just how bad it was last year. Wounds take time to heal.

The thing is, you know they want to get it right. They'll take a little time to ensure the best for the club moving forward. This constant quick fix, constant crisis attitude is frankly absurd. The Liverpool i love, supports players who are struggling. Looks at the bigger picture, not just a snap shot. People want to stop listening and reading the constant crap written and spoken by the press.

Good post, although I don't agree about Adam. I think he has been fairly average. Showed some of what he can do a few games ago but recently has been back to garbage again.

He hasn't set the world alight, agreed. But I think he needs a battler next to him, to allow him to shine. The one i don't agree with is Stewart Downing, I think he is decidely average, never rated him at Boro or Villa.

Yeah, Adam was becoming a new breed along side Lucas and has gone backwards since. But at the start of the season he was frustrating to watch but was capable of getting an assist with a cracking ball out of no where. Downing on the hand, I think he plays well but fails where it matters...the final ball and his finishing has been awful.

Agreed. I was against signing Downing and was some what dismayed when we spent 20mill. I thought you never know he might come good at a bigger club. But no. He's just very average!
