    How many are we taking...?
Was confined to barracks Boxing Day so looking forward to the trip, if the loss at home isn't motivation enough then NB should dig out some of the recent years vids against Burnley to show - we owe this lot big time.
Won't go into my usual "McShane is hopeless" rant but as OLM as mentioned on another thread the thought of Rodriguez running at him is a nightmare I don't want to entertain <yikes>

I'm normally optimistic - even vs. West Ham and Southampton, I still thought we'd win - but Burnley? With Rosie out? With Macca in?

    Go on - surprise me!!!!

to be fair to Macca, he played in the ressies t'other week against a big, young, jack rabbit of striker and at first he struggled. In fact you could say that between him and Basso, they gave Sunderland a couple of goals. However, once he settled alongside Sonny Bradley, the jack rabbit did very little. Besides, Rodrigues is hardly a winger? Ill air towards the positive and the benefit of any doubt.

I like your optimism Mussie but people have short memories, perhaps I only remember the bad things but McShane has always been a liability and before anyone starts with the "he always gives 100%" malarkey I've always thought, perhaps wrongly, that to play prof.football you had to be able to pass, tackle, etc., and he has proved in spades since we had him that he can do neither on anything like a regular basis - got me going again on the Macca thing - I promise to stop now!!!<laugh>

In his post match interview with Burnsie on boxing day, Nick mentioned that he had other options for Rosies place ? I wonder if NB will use Dudge @ full back ? I also dont expect to see Dawson start 2 games in 3 days either but with Rosie back for monday it should not be an issue.

millwall where more of a bogey team, we hadnt won in 8 against them until the other week, we won at turf moor in the promotion season, and they are nothing to fear..same sort of performance as boro with a bit less trying to walk it in, and i can see us taking the points.

We should have beaten them at our place, I see no reason why we shouldn't beat them at theirs and they definitely deserve to be beaten.

It's a ****-hole and I've often left their pissed off, but at least I quite like the old wooden seats(even if we don't normally sit in them).

Every time i have being there i have being left disappointed, hope its not the same again. Last time i went we lost 4-0 on a Tuesday night!

Anyway i think we will get a win, i just have that feeling, aslong as we are a little bit more clinical.

Its not a nice place but if we are serious promotion contenders this is a game we need to be winning and I think we will 3-1.

3 - 1 away win at Turf Moor has disappointing ring to it. Or was it 3 - 0. It was a long time ago!

I can see them scoring due to Rosenior missing and Mcshane playing but I think we ll win.
I know we should be up for it but if we are 2-0 with 20mins to go and they get one the mental battle begins.

I'm probably in minority, but I think McShane gets a bad press.

He gives 100% at all times, part of the reason for his bad press is that he gets involved, sometimes when he shouldn't or to cover a 'missing' team mate, so he's out of position and over-reaching. If he stuck to his own position he'd get less bad press, but be far less effective.

It's possible the new regime could suit him better than the old one, although I reckon we're reaping the benefit of the defensive focus we've had.

I agree he gets a bad press and is biggest problem is he tries to hard and does to much. I. Can see Barmby saying "look you big ginger nutcase stay on the right hand side of the pitch and dont let anything past you!"
You dont play through the ranks at Man U if you have no ability.

I agree, last time he played for us last year a lot of his mistakes came to the fore due to his rampaging runs forward. He was our only outlet out wide at times it was that bad.

He had a brilliant game against Liverpool pre-season, but he looks better in pre-seasons as they're more relaxed games. In real games, he tends to try to hard and makes mistakes as a consequence, there's no doubting his commitment, but he can get seriously messy at times.

Agree with this, Burnley are a decent side but nothng special, just covert the chances we are creating and then we'll avoid days like Boro away more often. I was there that in 2007/08, last minute Turner winner in an otherwise dire game, brilliant result though!

I just hope and pray we get one over on Burnlee, I have a good mate I worked with in Hull for a few years, a keen Burnlee fan, and we went to all the games together when we both teams happened to be in the same division. Now a days, we speak on the phone before and after the games, and I am p**sed off of him gloating, as he has done recently. Let's hope I can do a bit of gloating Saturday night.

    I've given up on that...

Our best bet is to just create as many as we can so eventually one will end up in the net somehow, that seems to be the plan anyway.
