I prefer a close game with a team really needing a goal to survive etc.....

Its all relevant but for me a hard fought win is more pleasing than 'thumping' someone 5 or more nil. When you overrun a team its a bore, the opposition becomes dispirited and don't really try anyway, so there is no fight left in the home team. It may be ok for goading certain fans but its not pretty from a footballing point of view.

I like to see the underdog win, if it's Man U or Arsenal or Liverpool i just like to see anyone beat them. I'm lovin Man City kicking arse at the moment, always the second team, supported by people from Manchester even!!! I hope their millions mean they win the EPL for the next ten years.

Goals from both teams, also the underdog winning (unless I don't like them)

I have teams i keep an eye out for so if they are on I probably 'support' them, I guess after watching so many games over the years we all have favourite teams or teams we love to hate, it can change though, I hate Chelsea now because I can't stand half of their team but when I was a kid I liked their flair players like Dixon, Speedie and Nevin

Leeroy mate; by comparison over the years, well since that plane crash poor old Man City have suffered the poor mans position. Yep they've come into more money than we could poke a stick at, but hey I'm happy for them. In fact their fans are on the whole decent fans, after the game we beat them 2-1 I walked back to the New Griffin with a few of them, they were good sorts so for me yep they've finally got cash so what I hope they win the league for the next twenty years just to make all those wan ker, plastic Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool fans feel like we've felt all our football supporting lives :)

Man City are a proper working class football club - even with all the Arab money being thrown at them you get the feeling they'll never put up with plastics being thrust on them.

Don't mind a 0 - 0 if the play has been end to end, and the keepers have played a blinder. I like to see a passing game and also defenders taking the ball from the strikers.

Enjoying Man City at the moment, they have decent supporters who have stuck with the club thro' thick and thin. I worked in Manchester for 7 years (not far from Old Trafford) and the office was split Manu/Man City/Liverpool. The Man City lads were the best lot and always held their own whatever the others were doing. Good luck to them.

A Manchester City fan has just moved in next door. He came to Aus from Manchester in his mid teens in 1949 when Frank Swift was their goalkeeper and not having Pay TV comes to our place to watch their matches with my husband. Real salt-of-the-earth guy.

I rarely watch TV matches but prefer close high scoring matches when I do.

You sure? Even when their hardcore fans from the past get replaced by non mancunians?

With fantasy football playing an integral part of my life I find myself supporting certain players rather than teams.....

I think I agree with him. There's none of this Kings Road bull at Man City and the real fans aren't being priced out. If you heard Paul Lake's interview on Talkshite a couple of months ago, he said Man City are putting more into the local community now than they ever did when they were owned by local people or local heroes. Their new training ground complex will really aid local regeneration too.

I also like Man City. I think it's a mix of the fact that they have been an underdog for so many years and the fact that the guys on the pitch are wonderful footballers who play the right way and don't get involved in crap off the pitch.

And having said that, my current favourite (non-HCAFC) footballer is Super Mario, and he's a lunatic.

Man City's matchday support is currently still almost all Manc's(my daughter works there), they seem almost embarrassed about the wealth of their owners, they're not gobby about it at all. I've got no problem with them, though for some reason I find myself hoping that Spurs keep winning this season, despite having no real affinity with them either.

I get behind what ever team / result / first goal scorer etc I have bet on .. I don't bother watching other games besides city's unless iv had a bet on the game .. I must be boring or something as I don't even watch England playing unless iv done a footy bet ..don't have a second team either though I did use to watch Bridlington town from time to time when I lived in Bridlington ...

Give it time, if they get a couple of titles under their belt they'll come crawling out the woodwork. Same as any team that does well.

I used to live in Manchester and the local joke about United fans not coming from Manchester is quite funny as not all Citeh's fans were Mancunian either. Alot came from the surrounding areas of Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire. True it's not exactly London or Sussex, i'll give you that. Some who i talked to whilst watching matches in the various pubs were decent fans, but the complete bellends, who goaded people into fighting with them let them down.

I never expected to see any Chelsea fans up before the Mourinho era. Doubt many of the younger ones (non mancs) saying "super Mario is a god" remember them only just beating Gillingham in the 3rd division (now league 1) playoffs at Wembley.

I rarely find myself neutral so it's hard to say. Even though the result won't really bother me too much, I find myself supporting one team or the other for 90 minutes.

well an end to end open game is good enougn for me but a few goals does not go amiss.

as for Man City, well i am so glad that they are now wealthy enough to buy whoever they want to buy. having had them as my 2nd team since 1971 and the days of messrs. Lee, Bell, Summerbee, Doyle, Book, Big Joe Corrigan to name but a few its been very tough for them down the years living in the shadows of Man Utd. But now there wealth allows them to buy whoever they want, well almost anyone. The lad Mario Ballotelli is a class act both on and off the pitch and his recent christmas antics are what legends are made of. I am also enjoying watching Harrys Spurs have a go this season and there squad could well finish 2nd. At least the top 7 clubs in the PL are the right ones as they jokey for position and those european places for next season.
