Steve Evans stated that the problems he had with our bench during the match will be reported to the FA !!!! Any ideas ??
There's an article that has popped up on kentonline, but there are no specific details. Evans isn't exactly the quiet type and it appears he gave as good as he apparently got. I just hope he doesn't mean the incident with Garry Richards at the end of the game? It would be rubbish if he missed another FA cup match against a premiership team for an fa incident! I'm feeling pretty angry about Evans' post match interview, it just seems childish and snide really. http://www.kentonline.co.uk/kentonline/sport/2011/december/26/nicky_southall.aspx?
Crawley's problems will go a lot deeper than what was on show yesterday. They have expensive players (who will want to move on), a tiny ground....which they can't fill and an apathetic fan base who don't deserve the strides that the club has made. They are a bubble waiting to burst.
The attendance, 4255 was a league record for Crawley - and it included 1301 Gills supporters. This meant that there were only 2954 Crawley fans to see a team who are ( for now ) top of the division. - Pathetic !
Lets hope that we have made the first puncture in that bubble and that this team with limited support and its horrible manager can go back where they came form
I knew this bloke Evans had serious behavioural problems after seeing what he got up to when Crawley played Torquay in the Cup last year. I just looked him up on Wikipedia and could not believe the list of criminal convictions and FA charges which have been made against him. The real issue is how can anyone with such a track record be employed in football at all let alone be treated with credibility? This guy is not a fit and proper person and anything he reports to the FA is likely to be treated with contempt. A quick look on Wikipedia is essential reading for anyone interested in football.
Seems like Southend are admirers of Mr Evans too http://www.southendunited-mad.co.uk...s_unable_to_take_advantage_719791/index.shtml
You have to say he is a bit of a bully. I like the bit where a chairman of his is quoted saying that the FA have a witch hunt for him. Lol. Seems this is well deserved. Definately can't take a dose of his own medicine.
Evans is despised by pretty much everyone in non league circles following his mismanagement at Boston, which were one of the more better run non-league clubs before his tenure. Looks like his behavour is winning leage fans over too
My weekly brief thoughts on the game for those interested...http://www.gillingham.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=267047 Best result of the season imo and I am just loving it.
Good write up brb, and a good result for a team that couldn't buy a away win for eighteen months. I. Have no problem with Crawley as a club, the supporters, or the team, we've all had bad managers and I feel sorry for them having to put up with him.
Interesting article, and interesting site. I'm sure that Gills will give Mr Evans fair treatment when Crawley visit Priestfield in March.
