I agree the midfield is weak and I know we do not have 100s of millions to spend. But we do have enough money to sort out the midfield which is need of change. However, that is for the summer. We are in a league season and we must keep faith and we have a very good chance. The league is not over until its over
I'm well aware that my statement is contradicting tje manager. he said at the weekend that Rooney was involved in a coming together. What is said in public is not what is known in private. We know our midfield is inadequate and will in all likelihood cost us this season's league title and yet are meant to believe taht the manager is happy with it and not being hampered by the Glazers. Sorry mate, but I don't believe that Fergie, being the great manager he is, cannot see our huge weakness in that area. I don't expect him to tell the truth regarding what's going on behind the scenes. But I also don't expect people to get their backs up (not talking about you) when someone dares to question what is really going on.
Merry you have not explained to me why Arsenal will win it and why so definite. Fair play to them if they do take the league but we have a good chance. If we are still top come after pool game and not reliant on games in hand then we have a fantastic chance. Why would Ferguson not come clean? what does he have to gain? a pay check? You have no reason except pure rubbish fiction reasons. He has nothing to gain, nothing at all. What you trying to tell me Ferguson would be happy to manage a side not competing for trophies just for the sake of it? Your claim bares no weight at all.
I am sick of our excuses of losing. When we lose its either the officials or the Glazers. How about we credit the team Chelsea who played well and really wanted the win. We played well as well and I was pleased with how we played. You don't hear the Gunner as much as our fans crying about lack of funds. Arsenal have never bought a top player and their biggest signing was 15m arshavin. We have debts and must accept this as fact. Stop thinking about ifs and buts and Glazers. If you are not happy with the Glazers then stop buying Utd merchandise and stop going to games. Its simple as that cut everything off and then your voice will be heard. However, the consequence are far worse than the situation we are in now and fans would have to wait years to see a top Utd side. But if your so worried about the future then take that course of action and be patient about Utds return . Or you could trust our manager as he knows best.
Did you read Fergie's interview earlier in the season when he was asked about retirement? He said he was too old to retire and wouldn't step down. I'm not suggesting he should do (far from it) but what i am suggesting is that he is willing to accept a budget now that he would not have accepted 10 years ago, in terms of huge restrictions. A budget that means we cannot sign the players that we clearly require. Why do I think Arsenal should win the league? Because our midfield continues to cost us gamkes and because they have a far easier run in. The only valid reasons I can see for people saying Arsenal won't win the league is because they are bottlers (clutcjing at straws imo) and because United will finish the season with our traditional strong run (not looking likely either, given our poor midfield).
My excuse for losing was because our midfield was rubbish and we played long ball second half. And yes, I do attribute those failings to our lack of expenditure and ultimately the tight fisted Glazers.
Arsenal still have tough games as well and like I said if we are still top after the Pool game without the need of a game in hand then we have a great chance. Ferguson is a winner and he would not watch a Utd side fall without doing anything to stop it.
He's doing everything within his power to stop it. What is within his power now, is considerably less than what was in the past imo. No value in winning nothing but I'll guarantee you right now, so long as we are top 4 the Glazers are meeting their objectives.
I know many extreme Glazers haters want us to win nothing for the simple hope of Ferguson demanding funs in their conspiracy theory. However, we must balance the books as well and this is important. We have funds when we are in need. If we did not Ferguson would not have wasted so much money on unnecessary players like Smalling, Hernandez, Bebe who totaled over 25m. That could have been spent on a midfielder however 2 of those look class. I still believe we have a great chance. But do you really expect arsenal to win games with ease without RVP?
I expect Arsenal to win their next few league games without RVP, yes. In fairness, Hernandez and Smalling have proven to be good signings but have also proven to be necessary signings as without them, we would be seriously short. Bottom line is, this "money in the bank" balance remains, and so does our incompetent midfield.
Arsenal were gaining form with him in the side and before that they did not have anywhere near the edge they do without him. I am confident we will improve with the likes of Park and Anderson and Rio in particular returning. Valencia is just a bonus as we don't know how he is like. I am calm and not really worried about it as I know we will challenge to the very last day.
This money in the bank is sitting there for no reason. Surly if no signings will be made why not pay off a bit of the debt and reduce the interest? Surly that better? Or is it waiting for Ferguson to say I need this player? It does not make sense, either way the money should be used for one or the other or both.
In your eyes the season is over for us. In my eyes we have a great chance and I stick by this and believe we can do it.
Well one pretty obvious reason is that it suits the club's official line that the money is there available to spend. So long, as the money is sitting there, then the claim that it is there available to spend is a nice one to have. It goes beyond a nice claim though. The fact that the club has that much cash in bank, supposedly available whenever Fergie can find a better midfielder than Carrick or Fletcher, adds value to our club. It is abeacon for our solvency. Doesn't mean a penny will be spent on footballing matters though.
Merry you state that but how does that benefit Utd or the "leaches"? Money just sitting their for fun whilst the Glazers could reduce the debt and the club regressing. The league is strong and top 4 is not a guaranteed status in the future unless the team has some change in the middle!!!. The Glazers business plan works with us being in the top 4 and getting to latter stages in the CL. Sponsorship deals of high pay will only be made by Utd be successful. Your claim bares no weight again.
I've already stated that a healthy cash balance will inevitably lead to the club value increasing. The Glazers are losing nothing by having that money sitting there. All it does is add value. United, from a footballing point of view, gain nothing through having that money sitting there. A healthy cash in bank balance also improves the cashflow position immensely and presents a picture of a healthy business to outside investors. There are many, many advantages to having a high cash in bank value but the improvement of a football team unfortunately seems to not be on the agenda.
I am sorry Merry but it just sounds too fictional and not rational at all. Success on the pitch= Success off it and the Glazers need this. Ferguson is not going to wave a magic wand and Utd are going to win games. This midfield is on its last knees and this season is the final season it can compete to win the league which it is. We have a great chance no matter how you try and write us off. We have a chance and its as simple as that. Investment will be needed.
And beyond a goalkeeper, it will not be forthcoming. If we don't sign a proven midfielder this summer, will my claims become less fictional? We've needed one for a while (well more than one really) but it hasn't happened and all I see is a goalkeeper coming, so long as Scholes signs a new contract.
You said Chelsea would win it and after are wolves loss you said they would win it again and now we lose again you say Arsenal will win it. Every team except Man Utd can win it? is it. I think we all have seen how Arsenal play under pressure on Sunday. I believe its going to be close but ruling us out makes no sense. After our game VS pool our games and theirs are similar in terms of difficulty and the toughest games are at home where we are strong. Like I said if we can remain top after pool with a healthy lead of 4 points and a game in hand then we have a great chance. Arsenal will then have Spurs away, Pool and Us at home. We will have Chelsea at home and Arsenal as most difficult fixtures. I am honestly confident pending pool result and Arsenal result at weakened.
We are four points clear right now, having played a game more so being 4 points clear with a game in hand following the Pool game will be a big achievement! Let's get back to the point though. We have these Glazers running us. Tell me how they are not holding us back. Tell me how our transfer expenditure is in any way proportionate to other clubs with similar revenues and profits. The cold hard facts are that they are holding us back, they are draining us. The only question is just how much? Ask Scholesy and his 36 year old legs.
