FUNNY THAT ! Well done tractor boys, at least a good xmas period and 7 well deserved points from 9. Looks as though I will be at Reading NYE as links rather well for our night out after, so I will give a write up and thoughts regardless of the score! Proud to be a blue
Exactly my thoughts Westy, you have pinched my line! One of the best Festive season results for many years and not a squeak on here! Where is Warky and co these days, full of good cheer I trust! While I dont expect any points at Reading, with Andrews injured, another 3 against Forest, and we can and will start climbing the table. Or my fellow Blues, am I being overly optimistic? And by the sound of the commentary, Delaney, so often the butt of many a comment on here, played out of his skin and was the mom for Town. Look up, lets approach the New Year and half our games to come , with a healthy dose of optimism and not a little good spirit! COYB!!
Good result yesterday, a well deserved point. Damo played ok but was not MOM by any stretch of the imagination, he looked rusty & gave away a silly handball at the death that could of cost us a point. We did look pretty safe at the back for the most part, although Sonko was lucky to stay on the pitch for his challenge on Beckford. Saying that how Koncheskey avoided a red or card of any colour for that matter for his foul on Martin is beyond me, Martin looked all set to shoot from inside the box in a central position, surely thay is about a clear goal scoring opportunity as they come.? ALB gave another good performance in goal and there were very good shifts from Creesy, Martin, Bowyer & Scotland. Nice to see Kevin Painter at the game, good luck in the next round at the Darts World Champs. A point at Reading will be about as good as we can hope for on Saturday, need to make sure we collect all 3 against Forest next week.. COYBs
A win at Reading and we're looking at 6 points off the top 6 with a game in hand (I would have taken that going into the new year at the start of the season), a loss and we'll be 12 points away and seemingly have no chance. Shows how competitive this league is that we can lose 7 in a row and yet a couple more results and we could look like we're in with a shout! Reading are a good side though and to get anything there would be a very worthy performance, looking forward to the Forrest game on the 2nd, they've been terrible of late and we owe them a beating after the 3-2 turnaround a few weeks back!
…and absolutely no point made from you apart from the usual sanctimonious comment. The time of year could have something to do with most people’s absence until now. Anyhow; Andrews out for the duration of the loan by the sounds of things. At least the Delaney-Sonko partnership seemed ok, not that I was there. Clearly a bit more confidence about the place. They’ve turned a bid down for Drury – he only cost 150K and his contract is up in June 2013, so you have to wonder why they didn’t accept it, except that PJ is planning on actually giving the feller a decent chance in Andrews’/Leadboots’ (as he now seems to be generally known) absence. http://www.greenun24.co.uk/ipswich-town/town_turn_down_significant_bid_for_andy_drury_1_1163327 The priority must surely be to actually buy a proper right back and reinforce central defence. Sorry if none of that was upbeat or garrulous enough, Westy.
Speaking of right backs, anybody watching the Sheffield Utd match? Already been linked with Lowton, and he does look fairly decent.
I do actually worry that if we go on a decent run or heaven forbid up near the playoffs or promotion either this season(unlikely) or future seasons these boards will be deserted!! Its almost like people are writting to 'problem pages' on here but don't get any reply!!!
There are two good right back in the SPL: Tom Hateley (son of former England player Mark) of Motherwell, and David Wotherspoon of Hibs. I don't know if we would be a sufficient tempatation to leave the SPL, but I wouldn't of thought either of them would break the bank.
JJ â¦and absolutely no point made from you apart from the usual sanctimonious comment. The time of year could have something to do with most peopleâs absence until now. My thoughts exactly bud, couldn't have put it any better myself. Now off to have some fun, hope thats ok with Westy!!
haha fair enough guys if you want to be miserable that's your call. Surely your happy with 7 points from 9 though ? Or would you prefer us in the bottom 3 ?
Sticking with the theme of SPL, David Templeton from Hearts looks decent. Always looks like a threat and scores goals as well, Martin is starting to look a better player, plenty of endeavour from him, but still feel a tricky player like Templeton would be good for our future. Possibly not the most urgent of signings right now though!
sorry for not responding during a winning period. Havent got home internet access at the moment due to a recent house move so will only be posting during odd moments from work if that is acceptable? As I said during our bad spell and I will repeat now we have got a few extra points, We were never as bad as our losing streak suggested but we are not brilliant either. We are an average mid table (hopefully upper mid table) championship side. We will win some and drop points elsewhere. Nothing has really changed. Picking up points is good and hopefully we can go on a solid run. I think the only change is the fickle fan that thinks losing 2 in a row is reason to sack a manager and winning two in a row means your on a promotion bid. Dont get me wrong, Im not saying we cant push for promotion but at present Im just happy with the progress. I do like the way that a couple of weeks back losing Stockdale was a sackable offence and our players were too old and its amazing how quickly these things are forgotten now dads armys on a roll
2 losses in a row? it was 7 and not that i was shouting for PJ to be sacked I can understand why people were. the reason we are down here is because of those 7 losses in a row and in modern football it would have been no surprise if he was shown the door!
FFS nobody is being miserable you clown, just doing other things/family things at this time of year. Its ok for people like you that are on school hols and have plenty of free time to play on your computer but some of us have more important things to do.
Under normal circumstances 7 points out of 9 would be viewed as a good haul but we can't pretend that the 7 straight defeats didn't happen. These are the same bunch of players afterall and unless we replace those that are leaving with decent replacements we will find ourselves still battling to remain in this league. January will be the watershed for Paul Jewell's management at Town. Whatever happens by the end of the season we have endured another shocker and even the days of a comfortable finish in the top 10 now seem well beyond us. The thing that really annoys me is that we should be doing much, much better for a club of our size and stature. One thing is for certain season ticket sales will be below 10,000 for next season at this rate!
Spanish - when we lose ( which is often ) your family things and life is put on hold every single game......... and you know that's true. Your straight on here " manager out clueless " bla bla bla Put it this way then, after our next loss I GUARANTEE there will be more posts than after the last 3. Its obvious.
I'm with what your saying Jonh - 7 straight losses are ridiculous. I'm still unsure on Jewell, but I would like a more balanced forum and positives when we do things right ! Sadly, we do a lot more wrong !!!!
Looking forward to the game on sat. should be a good game with two of the in form teams. With you having 7 points out of 9 in your last 3 and us not even letting in a goal in our last 3 i look forward to it. Will be a tough game but hoping we can get the 3 points! Good luck for the rest of the season (after saturday) you shouldn't be in the position you are.
tbf Spanish if we would have lost, alot more people would have posted even though it is xmas. Tractorbhoy agree with your point, there are too many posts on here that don't put things into perspective and are often just hot headed responses to the last result. JWM it seems to me you have realistic expectations for ITFC in the future but not for this season, it appears that you seem to be annoyed with PJ when the previous management regime have to take a large amount of the criticism for the troubles we find ourselves in.
PTC tbf Spanish if we would have lost, alot more people would have posted even though it is xmas. I think you will find out after the Reading game!!
