Now I've also been mugged on Boxing Day. Boro did a good job of nullifying our attacking threat, Fryatt, Mclean and Koren all had two men on them whenever they were in, or around the box, but we should still have won. Fryatt missed a sitter with his head early doors and definitely should have had a penalty, though they could have had one at the other end when Dawson decided to play netball(he was hanging off people again yesterday, he could easily have been sent off for a second yellow). Stewart had an off day, possibly his worst game for us to date, but the defence and central midfield were good again(Hobbs MotM for me) and it took an exceptional strike for them to score. It was disappointing to see the run come to an end, particularly as it was a game we could easily have won, but at least we have Burnley coming up now and they definitely deserve a tonking. Pity about Rosie's suspension too, the thought of McShane v Rodriguez fills me with dread.
I hope we go to Burnley and absolutely thrash them. Disapointed by the result yesterday too, but a good goal beat us, still a long way to go in this league. P.s. Where the F**K did Reading come from?
Nice write up OLM. I have a sneaky feeling though that McShane may just come out and impress us all next week though.
Thought Hoyte had Stewart in his back pocket all day, which was very disappointing and Brady was poor when he came on later. Thought a point would have been fair, dunno about being mugged.
Surprised at how quick we got out from the ground. Parked behind a disused warehouse near the Navigator pub, straight out no real traffic, bonus! Result was galling to say the least, Fryatt should definitely have scored with that header, it was harder to miss. Ah well onwards!
Headers ???? Nope we dont do them! It's called FOOTball and we know how our strikers take things literally
Whoooo and has for fookin Burnley!! There's more chance of me winning the National Lottery then us giving them a tonkin! So looking forward to Derby at home.
Listened to TM interview and without actaully saying we were the bestter side he certainly alluded to it. Sounds like a good perfomance, but just need the striker than can put them away.
agree pretty much with all that, still cant make my mind up about the keeper on there goal, it was a brilliant strike, but it hits the net dead centre...still think at times we where guilty of over playing, some of the passing was excellent, but there where times we got to the byline and it needed drilling across, but we kept trying to walk it all the way in to the goal line....agree about hobbs , thought he was excellent.
Hobbs was solid yesterday hes getting better and better. As a team I think thats the worst we ve played under Barmby we couldnt keep the ball and looked off the pace without it. I didnt think to much of Boro and on our day we are a better team. Crap atmosphere there aswell I cant remember them singing before the goal.
"...need the striker to put them away...." - here's a question for you. Which striker has scored the most goals in the championship throughout 2011?
I like Fryatt but thought he was guilty of having to many touches in and around the box. Sometimes he should just get his shot away in a crowded box instead of dragbacks and extra touches he seems to wait for the perfect opening.
i also like fryatt, but got to be said he has missed an awful lot of clear cut chances this season...im guessing the answer to your question mussie is him? fair play to him if true, but he should count himself a lucky boy for the amount of chances hes had laid on for him then.
This whole taking too many touches in the box before shooting thing - has somebody at the club pointed this out to him? Surely Barmbs can tap him on the shoulder and say, "When you get the ball in the box, just turn and shoot". Perhaps show him a compilation of his misses and where he went wrong. It just seems that when players are making mistakes, it takes months for them to sort it out, when really it should only take the time between games. It's taken Dawson 3 years to get over his half way line fear, he now looks much more attack minded. Shame he's 33. =/
It felt like the game was heading for a draw before they scored, a 30 yard screamer is all it took to seperate us in the end and we can take plenty from the performance. We need to take our chances though when we come, hopefully we can get back on track and get one over on Burnley on Saturday.
Macca is looking to move if he can't get first team football here prior to Euro 2012, and even if he shines on Saturday it's unlikely he'll keep Rosie out of the side. Therefore I think he'll be well up for the game to put himself in the shop window, although I sense another loan is most likely as unless he is happy to halve his wages, he's unlikely to find a club willing to pay out the same as we currently do.
The last time we played a left back at right back we got absolutely murdered, I forget who it was against but I know we got a tonkin!
