With all of this negativity floating around after the Blackburn game (which I wholeheartedly understand), it's important we all look at the positives about this season and the future. 1, We're playing nice football. Kenny has brought the good looking attacking football back with him from 80s. Pass and move is much more interesting to watch than some of the football we've seen before, around the league there are only a couple of clubs that can boast playing as good looking football as we do. However, I know that's no consolation for the lack of goals which leads me to... 2, We're more than likely to invest in January. FSG did exactly this last january, and we happened to change the team massively for the better by spending about £2.5m. What's to say we won't do the same now? It's obvious to everyone what we need, and I'm sure with all the scouting being done recently that Comolli/Kenny have got their eye on a few candidates. Many would argue we can't attract the same calibre of player we have done in the past, but then wasn't that said of us last season when we bought Suarez? We have a project, players like to buy into something they know will increase their reputation and if they could be the player to spearhead that change then they'll grasp the chance with both hands. 3, Steven Gerrard He's looking sharp again, and after so much time out he's out to prove he's still needed in the side. A revitalised Gerrard is so important to the side, that he alone could propel us into the top 4, don't forget about what he's capable of and none of that technical skill or talent has been lost between last year and now. If he can get back to full fitness and stay fit for the rest of the season then I'm sure not only will he score goals, but he'll drill the confidence into other players to convert our chances. 4, We have a large squad. Our second string team is one of the best we've had in years. When you have Kuyt, Bellamy, Shelvey, Kelly etc.. all sitting on the sidelines it's a boost that if anyone in the first XI was injured, we have capable and proven replacements to step up and show what they can do. When other teams around us start hitting rough patches with injuries etc... then their form inevitably drops, and this is when we can pick up the points. 5, We have some very promising youngsters. With all of the current goings on this season, let's not forget what's in store for us in the future with the likes of Sterling, Coady, Suso and Morgan all progressing well, we could be in for some treats in the next few seasons as we see some exciting young players. Please, add any more if you can think of them.
Fair play for trying to flip it! We just need a striker to start banging in the goals. I think its a simple as that! We all get a bit down, but that because we have high expectations; too high considering where we were last year. Just keep supporting the team, thats all we can do. YNWA
I honestly think you lot will come through, you'll definitely come above us Geordies although we hope to take the fight to you as far as we can. Being a Newcastle fan I think Kenny Dalglish is an absolutely ****e manager who's totally spunked his money but you've still got a lot of undoubted quality in the side. I understand it's different with Liverpool though as Dalglish's name holds a lot of respect around the club. You paid way over the odds for Carroll but having seen him as an NUFC player I still think he will come good, but he is taking a long time to adjust to not being the focal point of the play as he was here. Will he get the nod when Suarez is out or do you boys think there are others in the running? Absolutely hate you buggers for taking Enrique from us at such a bargain price as well the man is a touch of class and a joy to watch. You are playing good football and making a lot of chances, you've been unlucky because on other days they could have gone flying in. Even with Dalglish at the helm the sheer amount of money you have to spend will make sure you're hovering around those Champions League places, although you could and should be doing a lot better with £75million than Henderson, Downing and Carroll - were they Comolli or Kenny's doing? How big is your January budget? Wouldn't be surprised if your boys come knocking on our door again for Tiote.
Thanks Ze... But I'm still fuming about yesterday Was good to see Stevie back and we did nearly score from his very first cross. Would have been sweet. 1. Yes we are playing nice football (although football is about goals at the end of the day) and I know deep down I'd rather watch yesterdays game in terms of excitement than I would a Houillier shut up shop job, a Rafa 1 man up front home game or a Hodgson style bag of **** kick and run game. 2. We need to strengthen in Jan but not allow ourselves to be robbed as we were last year price wise. 3. Good News 4. Nice to have a large squad...but still there's no need to rest Bellamy for two games in a row especially after how he performed in his last start. 5. Looking forward to seeing a few of the youngsters break through. Always gives the crowd a lift seeing younger players getting a chance
Somethings not write with Bellamy. He must be getting rested for a reason. I don't see his fitness as an issue. He never looks tired/short of match fitness.
He has a knee problem according to a Cardiff fan I know and cannot play too many games in a row or he will be out for a few weeks.
I think this January we don't need to buy " for the future" but someone for right now. It does get frustrating that every other game , " So Kenny what happened" ..." Created chances... no luck.... once we start finishing they will come". I think that we need to get the QUALITY in, even if it is just one person, but someone of that Quality. Like Ze said, a revived wanting to get into Euro's and propel us into the top 4 Gerrard is that type of quality and if we can add to that up front then we could finally stop dropping silly points. Good points Ze, You also forgot that our defense has been the best it has in YEARS! That back 4 and Reina are very very solid
I've not heard anything about that but it would explain things I guess. I still think he could've been rested for Wigan then played yesterday though surely (he was on the bench for both after all). If not then how much use is he going to be as we get deeper and deeper into the season?

"If you look at his knee in August... he can play every week now and he can train. If he plays one game a week and we keep applying his approach he can continue playing." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13412026.stm
The way we are playing I should be looking forward to each game as they come, instead I feel skeptical.
LDC, remember when we were talking about the points we thought we would get from this Decemeber run? I think we might have been off ( especially me!!)
I think we have dropped more points than made so far...what makes it worse is that Chelsea and Arsenal have both done the same...OK this helps a little because they haven't opened up the gap much but we could be sitting in the top 4 right now. Btw...did Blackburn have a single shot on target? They beat Arsenal with some own goals...Surely OG is their top scorer now.
TBH our only major issue is the lack of goals. We are playing good football, creating chances and our defence is doing great. The team spirits great to. I know its a big thing to fix, but fix it and we could start flying.
If we got Podolski and Luuk De Jong, I would cream myself. One with known quality and one that can have that quality for us or at least can link with players a bit better than what we have.
We need a poacher. Suarez is too busy trying to nutmeg every opposition player and does'nt look like an out and out goalscorer to me. Not Podolski for me he has never had a great club career.
