It seems the good old days of doing well in the big games but not so great in the "lesser games" has crept back into our game. Even as a relatively newer fan compared to most on here. And when I mean new I mean 1995, one thing I have always noticed about Chelsea is our inability to win games we "should win". I never have and never will expect to win a game but there are some games obviously more winnable than others.

In the big games I can't fault any of our performances. At the Bridge in particular we always rev it up for the big games. I thought we did well against Liverpool, Arsenal and United and were desperately unlucky to lose all three of those. We should have beaten Spurs but they parked the bus at home and deployed two holding midfielders, probably just because Chelsea were coming to town. And we of course beat City and Newcastle deservedly.

In contrast in the so called lesser games against QPR, Wigan, Fulham etc we have been desperately disappointing.

We need to turn up for the other games and realise they are just as important as the big ones. If I closed my eyes and blinked at times I would swear this is Vialli or even Hoddle's Chelsea :emoticon-0108-speec

Hmm....disappointing to say the least especially coming after our excellent display at Tottenham. Compare our results against Wigan & Fulham with United's and you begin to realise which team is geared up for the business end of the season and the one which is going through redevelopment.

We seriously need to up the ante against these teams - you get the same amount of points for a win against City as you would against the likes of Bolton, Wolves & QPR; with Arsenal, Tottenham & Liverpool scraping for a CL place we can ill afford the luxury of being charitable to the lesser teams. Part and parcel of this is the letharic approach we take to these games - it'll be a test of AVB's motivational qualities to resolve this and put us into the home straight firing on all 4 cylinders not floundering to avoid the Europa league.

I agree, we are dropping too many points to small clubs like Spurs, Wigan etc, we need to emulate our performances against the big boys and we'll be fine.

When clubs like Chelsea come to grounds like 3 Point Lane it is obvious they are going to deploy 2 holding midfielders and play for the draw. The smaller clubs are going to play like this and we need to be more creative and find ways to break them down. When we play the bigger clubs like Arsenal they tend to come out and play football hence why we tend to do better against them.

We need to change our mentality <ok>

I am a Chelsea fan and go to games, so you've failed there.

Any thing else you want to say to make yourself look like an idiot? (As easy as it is for you)

Yes indeed Fulham managed to get a point, more than Spurs usually manage home or away to Chelsea <laugh>

Ha, this Noah bloke is really getting wound up isn't he? Small club mentality? Can't handle the big boy's jokes. Run along now, most of us have better things to discuss. <laugh>

So Fulham are more legitimate than Chelsea? How exactly? If anything the reverse is true.

I can't wait to see your response to this

DL--Your original post asks a very pertinent question! It has been on an amusing track since , but competely unrelated to what you were asking!

When I first started going to SB, the Blues were known as "the unpredictables" throughout the land. I barely knew what the word meant when I first heard it, but very quickly became to learn! Beating Arsenal 4-1, Man.City 5-0 and WBA 7-1 in successive home games and then losing at home 1-2 to Crewe Alexandra(bottom of Div 4) was typical.

I dont think we're quite there yet, but I'm getting to the point where I dont make predictions any more!

Work still in progress and probably will take another year or two. Hopefully we can maintain our Champions league status whilst this much needed overhaul takes place. <ok>
