Them having youngsters on loan to Premiership clubs(Adebadbuy does not count) On a diffrent note, should I take Spurs serious as title challengers or is the main aim top 4?
Aslong as we're with in 10 points we're in with a shout and I wouldn't rule us out of any title race, well unless we're 10 points off with 3 games to go! A title challenge would be superb even if we're very unlikely to win it but I think all Spurs fans would be more than happy with a place in the top 4. Qualifying for the CL again was our target at the start season and I think it still is.
This! 99.9% of Spurs fans would have set 3rd or 4th place as a realistic target. Anything better is just a bonus. I honestly don't believe Spurs harbour any realistic hopes for actually winning the title. Spurs have a fantastic squad and a great manager, but its a season too early. If they can maintain the core of the squad and add a top class striker who can head the ball and simply put it in the back of the net, then instead of it taking 5 or 6 chances to score, it will only take 2 or 3. Spurs are definitely looking good for a top 4 finish and I'd be very disappointed if they didn't finish 4th and more than 6 points off 3rd.
The aim is definitely top 4 at the moment, as far as I'm concerned. Unless the African Nations really damages Man City, which I don't think it will, and Man Utd's injury problems really start to tell, then third is probably the best that we can hope for. I'd take that right now, to be honest.
Comment on the OP's note about young players on loan. While the sheik is in charge no young player will get a look in at any level unless he is bought from another club at a vastly inflated fee. Like all the other posters 3rd or 4th will do me fine and if we are within reach come April then why not a title challenge.
You're not jealous of the fact that our current successes are the product of 15 years of hard work, tweaking and development, as opposed to a 15 minute spending spree?
Wait, are you talking about Steven Caulker, or the lovely Charlotte Thorstvedt? please log in to view this image
Cheers for that, Lidls. I'm sure that none of us realised that in order for us to overtake the teams above us, we'd have to get enough points to finish above them.
Yes. You're assuming that both clubs will continue to pick up points at the same rate. You have no way of knowing whether that'll be the case or not.
We have some talented youngsters(Suarez is Silva's replacement in waiting but is only 17) Boyata is another(will be a decent player for someone like Wolves) Rekik made his first team debut at 16.... but we will have to wait 2-3 yeas for Suarez to break through.
And 90% of them assume that fans of any particular club have some vague understanding of the position that their own club are in.
As I said at the start of this season, I thought we should have finished 3rd last season as we were the 3rd best team in the league. This season we still are IMO and we SHOULD finish third and so far we are looking good for it. On the other hand, we underachieved last season and finished 5th maybe we will over achieve this one and finish second.
Liverpool remind me of how were last season. Lots of chances but no one sticking it in the net! We need to buy cover for ade in Jan!
If we can keep Adebayor, Bale, Moddy, Scotty, and at least two decent CBs fit for the rest of the season, then we have a decent shout at the title, but only if we beat both £ity and United. Otherwise, a top 4 place is ours to lose, and I will settle for that, especially if it is at the expense of Arsenal, because that will almost certainly mean that RvP will leave them. 3rd would be a marvelous achievement.
