In a tight game the first goal is crucial, or so we are told by the experts, however, when you have twatful referee decisions such as yesterday, it doesn't matter at all. Chances were at a premium for both teams so when we scored I thought we would win the game. We missed 2 or 3 chances (strange but MotD missed them too) and they missed 2 or 3 chances but without Webb dropped bollock, we would have 2 more points now and our revival would be rolling. These things don't even out at all and we are victims yet again from 2nd rate officials. It's incredible but Webb is rated as one of our best referees too. Oh how standards have dropped in the English game. What exactly did he think he saw when he took the 3 or 4 seconds to give the penalty? Surely you have to be 100% sure to give a penalty but he was only 6 yards from watching a player trip himself up and still gave a penalty. It wasn't a classic game and it wasn't a classic piece of refereeing either. The annoying thing is it cost us dearly but it will cost Webb **** all. He doesn't even have to come on the tv and explain his utter bollock either. He just gets to move on to the next **** up and we have to try and put it right next game, v Man City. Yeah right. If he was demoted down the leagues and lost money and credibility for such a **** up it would ease the pain but it doesn't. Well done lads for sticking to the plan despite that decision and another point in the bag; well done to Moyes for being honest enough after the game to say it wasn't a penalty; **** off Webb for being a twat and hiding away from your decision like a coward.
I saw that Osman tripped himself and I was 40 rows back in the east stand centre and had forgotten my glasses!! I also noted that the assistant never moved so he did not think it was a penalty either. I honestly think Webb's brain filled in the part where Cattermole fouled him because 'thats what cattermole does' in so many referee's minds. Terrible, terrible decision.
Although it was a diabolical decision and I am not defending Webb in any way we have to look at the other side of the problem. If referees knew they could be fined for making wrong decisions it could make them reluctant to make any decisions at all, just in case..... I have often heard it said that it is difficult enough to recruit sufficient referees and assistants to run the games so a punishment like that could make many people, thinking of becoming match officials, reluctant to take it up. And where would that leave us? With no new guys coming through as referees and assistants the game would simply die. Love 'em or hate 'em they are an essential part of the game.
There was contact with Larsson however minimal and most players (most of yours included) when contact is made will play for the penalty. That can be debated whichever way you want but yesterday was just either blatant cheating by Osman or a diabolical decision from Webb. The 2 are completely different but hey, thanks anyway arsehole for being the resident obsessed mag this morning.
Lever, it was just a **** decision mate from ref that lives up his own arse these days, revelling in his world cup fame and notoriety. He was no more than 10 feet from the incident and even paused before making the decision so there must have been doubt. To then say he saw contact is an appalling error. Technology would have taken maybe 10 seconds to say no penalty and the sooner it comes in to play the better. I've been a supporter of it for years. Webb should be taken a down a peg or two and demoted for a few weeks and maybe he would stop thinking he is the star of the show. He cost us 2 points and that on turn may cost us a few hundred thousand quid at the end of the day. Who foots that bill?
It was a massive bollock from Webb, but what was even more galling...which no-one seems to have picked up on...was the fact that Osman had the temerity to appeal for the penalty!
Osmans reaction was comical! He was furious! He obviously believed he'd been tripped! No son you just kicked the turf!
Agree with you up to a point but why should the likes of Watford, Southampton, Hartlepool, Brentford, etc, have that useless ****er passed on to them. If you're **** at your job, sack the fat ****.
And who was the fat bald twat referee and being totally conned by another dirty cheating **** that day I ask you? Do they even themsleves up? Not in ****nut Webbs case thats for sure. The man is a total cockend. And so is Webb. Lol
Not at all, we all said that. You seem to forget Seb Larsson against us, Webb the referee. Handball, ran over to the linesman getting right in his face saying it hit him in the head. Swings and Roundabouts.
When it comes to bad decisions from refs, we seem to get on the wrong side of stacks of them and the Mags, on the whole, appear to benefit...This to me seems way beyond the natural realms of probability and deserves investigation
