Evening All, whilst nothing beats watching our beloved Chelsea I am also a fan of football and often watching other teams gives me a breather and sends the heart rate back to normal. I was just wondering what your favourite games were not involving Chelsea? My top 4 are probably the following: 1: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/4957464.stm I detest West ham and wouldn't usually pick them for any game but their attitude did impress me. Often sometimes when playing smaller clubs at home towards the end of the season some players take their holidays early, but I was impressed with the attitude and professionalism showed not to mention the beauty scored by Yossi late in the game. 2. Whilst I am a big fan of the FA Cup cupset, I was just glad for our sake that Portsmouth prevailed, with us having sealed our place in the Final, the last thing I'd have wanted is us facing a small club in the Final and being overwhelming favourites 3. Real Murcia 3-5 Barcelona If I live to be 100 I don't think I'll see a better continental match than this one, it was Riijkards last game in charge at Barca and the players really played for him. it was the most open game of football I've ever seen and Barca were amazing, as were Real Murcia. 4. AC Milan 3-1 Lyon Again a brilliant match involving the talented Lyon side which included Fred, Juninho, Malouda, Govou, Benzema etc. Lyon really should have won, but this match produced some exhilerating football. It saddens me to see AC Milan losing at home and getting knocked out by small clubs with little Champions League experience these days, they were once a great team I must say, even then still not a patch on Sacchi's Milan.
Sorry Liverpool fans, I've just realised I tagged you by accident, can mods please put it as Chelsea only
I quite enjoy the unbelievable come-back games in big matches, to name a few - Fa Cup final when West ham were something like 2-0 up vs liverpool then gerrard came on and got a hat-trick and they won 3-2 , or when the yids were 3-0 up at home to manure and they were going mental on 606 then they lost 5-3 , and the liverpool-milan game aswell 3-0 to 3-3
I remember a state of shock actually seeing that goal go in, as much as I hate them I really felt for the Spammers that day.
Another two to add to the list aswell, England - Greece when Beckham scored that late free-kick that was amazing and when Porto got that late free kick and i'm sure they scored or someone headed it in and it send Manure crashing out the CL, was some years ago
Cant move it District as Chelsea thread is the original one SW will be able to merge and deal with it, no probs though.
England - Greece, what a game! Gotta be up there. Or should I say Beckham - Greece, he was super-human in the second half. Really buried the WC '98 incident in historical fashion.
Big games almost always disappoint IMO (ones between any of Chelsea-LFC-Arsenal-MUFC anyway). Best games? I enjoyed Barca Vs Inter (Nou camp) 10 man inter holdng on for dear life against the most formidable attack in Europe. Barca 5 - 0 Madrid too, a footballing lesson for Jose. Can't remember any other off the top of my head.
Not a Liverpool fan by any means, and definitely not Chelsea, but wouldn't Istanbul be up there somewhere for you?
I disagree. One of the best CL games ever if not the best was the 4-4 at Stamford Bridge between Liverpool and Chelsea (it wasn't for me as my heartrate couldn't take it). I'd also put several Arsenal v Man Utd and Arsenal v Chelsea games up there as well. Whilst we lost both games, as a neutral you would be hard pushed to find a better game than our 3-2 against Kanu/Arsenal and the 5-3 earlier in the season I do agree in that the Barca-Inter game was one of the most fascinating games I have watched in a while though
Sorry, I didn't want to burden your board but it seems this thread has actually turned into a decent one despite Noah Pology's efforts to disrupt it. Let's keep the sensible posts and discussion coming
