But it's made from eggs, eggs I tell you?

I don't mind a Christmas Baileys but I'm not drinking anything made with eggs.

    Not even for baby Jesus.

But surely from a business point of view, the value of the players shall not decrease over time, but increase with the experience they are gaining, so if so why not wait til the summer with the chance of the bigger prize i.e Premier League, and still retain the players as value if they need to cut losses.

I'm at the out laws down south and have just clocked some Warnincks or whatever it's called in the drinks cabinet.

I've been on the red wine so going on the egg nog now would be a bad move.

I'm going to try some early doors tomorrow and will report back.Might have some for breakfast.
What do I drink it with though?

Only in a market where the buyer doesn't have alternatives and will have to return to you, and where your ability to sell the asset isn't time limited by the remaining length of a contract. If we fail to get promoted this season the high point for several players' values is likely to be the January window anyway because it will mean the second half of the season has seen a decline in performance.

The increased revenue in the PL is not a straight up profit, there's increased costs that come with promotion. For starters how long would the mass support for the Allams last if we got promoted and our summer transfer kitty was less than £10M after claiming they saved us as a gift to the city and not as a business decision? Coupled with the new signings transfer fees there'll be the PL wages for those new players (which most people seem to forget when costing things), plus the increased wages for existing players because you can't expect the key players to stay on Championship wages as PL players and not be looking elsewhere. We'd be lucky to bank 1/3 of the increased revenue if we went up, which pushes the sell/gamble decision towards selling if you're looking from a purely business point of view.

What the hell are you all on about? No sensible Business man in their right mind buys a football club in the first place let alone one in the NPC with circa £40m worth of debt. His only interest is keeping the club in a sustainable financial position. Now if players are offered a contract somewhere else its up to Barmby what he wants to do with that, why after all this investment would we have a firesale now. Some of you have lost the plot

Firstly how longer contracts do they have? How about the profits both Blackpool and Burnley announced with relegation. I agree it is not necessarily grea to see a profit, but the main thinking i was thinking of if he wanted to sell the club the value would be far higher and thats where he would make his money.

I really hope we don't lose players in the window but these businessmen aren't sentimental like us fans, as I said last week Cam Stewart had a bad injury so if they had a big offer for him in their minds then they would want to sell. I wouldn't want him to go, none of us would, but that's how business works. Nobody can say we will go up for sure, even though we might think we will. I hope we sell none of our players and go up but it will be no shock if at least one of them go whether we think its the right thing to do or not.

Any decent bid would obviously be seriously considered and if they're Premier League bids, then the player will probably want to go anyway, though I don't think £2m will be enough for any key player(though there may well be some debate on who's a key player and who isn't).

It isn't good business practice to sell our best players just for a decent profit (say £2million) for the following reasons:
    1. To replace a player with one of equal or hopefully better quality would probably cost more.
    2. The change at this stage could damage our momentum - resulting in missing promotion - resulting in losing Premiership / Sky money.
    3. It would send a message to the existing players that we are a selling club and make them feel less secure here.
    4. Our players are young and hungry and ambitious. The longer it takes to reach the top tier, the more of them will leave for more successful clubs.
To take a short term profit now would basically amount to asset stripping. This will lead to disruption then eventual decline. Barmby knows it (hence his hesitation to become permanent), the fans know it because we've seen it for generations, but the businessmen who run our club possibly don't know it, because for them success probably equates to a healthy profit sheet.

I think this is all part of NB stategy, and why he is bidding his time on making it permanent. I am sure he will want assurances that players will not be sold unless he gives the the OK. Of cause NB is realistic enough to know that if an offer comes in that is too good to miss, then he will probably sell, but will want agreed that any money received is available to him for transfers.

you ignore the fact that players conracts mean nothing. If they want go, they are gone whether good or bad business for Hull City, Man Utd or anyone. And for that we have Gordon Taylor to thank! Greedy Bastards!!!!

As far as I know none of our players have said they want to go, so the ball is in our court.
I think players generally expect the club to match their own ambitions and to prove it by fighting tooth and nail to hold on to their best players.
The top clubs always retain their main players and sell fringe ones. Apparently we don't have to sell so keeping the likes of Chester and Stewart should be a gimme.

Bottled the egg nog. On the father in laws home brewed wine.

Egg nog might taste like **** but it's gotta be better than this.
Without exaggerating it smells like nail varnish remover. I have never tasted nail varnish remover but I dare say it tastes similar.

I am fast approaching inebriation and the last time I was in this state at the outlaws I had my infamous barny with Doveston.

    You have been warned.

    Merry Christmas.
