Subtext seems to be nobody will guarantee players won't be sold so he won't take the job yet. Or am I wrong?

Possibly - he did say that he thought the team had real talent that could go on and do great things. He clearly wants to preside over that rather than take the job and see the likes of Chester Hobbs Rosey and Cam Stewart sold if we get any sort of sizeable bid even from a top PL Club.

Should the player be tainted by such an offer that would be a different thing. But Nick did end up by saying no one had shown any desire to leave.

I really dont understand why people think different. If we were offered more than £2m for either Cam, Chester or Rosie we would definitely sell. I said the same last week and got a shedload of abuse.

The Allams are business people, not football people, and if we could bank 500% profit in 1 year they would take it from Lester or anyone else, while no doubt throwing in a few lines about the player wanting to leave.

I've no idea what the Allams will or won't do since I've never spoken to them (or know their inner thoughts).

I hope we don't sell and go on to get promoted.

The Allams aren't stupid you know?! Do you think they'd rather sell our best players and receive around £10m, or get promoted to the Premier League and receive around £50m?

However business people also know that in the long run you may need to make short term losses to make long term profits. Which is what i am sure they will be thinking..... If we do recieve an oustanding bid we may sell but i doubt it will be 2M...

Latest odds have us about 4-1 to get promoted.

Sounds like 10m now versus potential 50m is about a 50/50 split.

Totally agree - £2m for the likes of our best players is peanuts anyway.. the Allams may well be businessmen but that would be shooting oneself in the foot with such rich pickings available in the PL.

Let's face it we only got £2.5m for our best (premiership) player a couple of seasons. Let's take an impartial look at it, turn £300k to £2m in less than a year? Who wouldn't? We can go buy 3 more kids and start again???

If they sell they sell and we go on, if they don't they don't and we may finish in the play off spots?

If Nathan Redmond is worth 12M supposedly, Chamberlain 15M, i accept Stewart is not in that price barrier but why are our star youngsters far lower. And just because we replace them with 3 more it brings with it risk, you can not gurantee success in developing youngsters, it is hit and miss. If we lost Chester and Stewart now i would basically say our changes of pomotion are gone and it leads to more re-building time. Which increases the time in which the Allams can reasonably sell the club at a profit, or something that wouldn't be such a huge loss. As selling us in the Championship and we are worth pretty much nothing, sell us in the PL and we are at less worth something.

    You all think like fans.

I'd like to point out what some seem to be missing - I don't think we should sell either.

But as a business man surely you would think about the bigger picture to? Surely you would think about the possiibility of long term profits for short term losses. All companies need start up costs, this is similar in football you need to spend money to make money.

FFS - it's Boxing Day, we lost to a pretty spectacualr goal and a piss-poor decision re: Penalty. Stop looking for problems and enjoy your egg-nog before it curdles! Plenty to be happy about, as long as we just get on with it!

    Bring on Burnley UTT

Has anyone ever actually tried this egg nog malarkey or knows anyone that has?

I have asked everyone I know, literally, and it's like an urban myth.

    Does it even exist?

To be arguing about a narrow loss to one of our promotion/play off rivals is something we should be happy about.
Look how far we've come since this time last year, and have another sausage roll and slice of pork pie.
Well played Boro, bring on Burnley - if we lose that one I'l feel a lot worse than I do now.

Yes - but as businessmen, they may see 'loss' as unrealised value, i.e. the value of unsold players/ forgone profits.
