Loan moves look more likely as once our injured players are back, we have a pretty big squad.

'Nothing on the table' yet regarding a full back.

I would love us to sign Matt Hummels as a replacement for Squillaci, he looks like a top, top player and wouldn't mind being on the bench, also with Vermaelen maybe playing more at LB in the future and one CB having to be injured he'll get games.

As for DM, I think Frimpong and Song are good enough. If you are desperate for one, De Rossi might be cheap. I've also always admired Marouane Fellaini.

Midfield General? Agreed. Marek Hamsik looks the best realistic target, but someone like Esteban Granero would be good enough to be honest.

As for the striker, it has to be Podolski. We can all dream of Cavani, the best striker we could possibly get, but he'd cost way too much to be a second string striker.

I want Podolski owing to his ability to play on the left and lead the line, thus sub for van Persie when he needs a rest. I don't think a main striker will come, as they'll know they're going to be second th RvP. One who can play wing as well, gives the more chance to play.

Bendtner is not a winger at all, that's why he's not still there.

I meant that strikers better than Podolski would not want to sit on the bench - and I can't see us going back to 4-4-2

I disagree with PNEawf, SamuraiShadow makes a good point.

Lol, Hummels is one of the best centre backs on planet, why on earth would he sit on the bench?

I would be happy with a good wide player, an attacking midfielder and a striker. <ok>

Why on earth would Podolski agree to come to Arsenal to sit on the bench as an RVP sub ??? Even Bendtner was unhappy there, Chamack is unhappy, I wonder what this Korean guy is thinking. Podolski is German international with some status and fantastic goal scoring record this year. That would be a suicidal move for him. We can hope for a player of his statue only if we change the formation.

    Wilshere?

I agree with you about the utility defender and second striker but disagree about our DM situation.

Getting rid of the rubbish squad players should also be a priority. They're just taking up wages whilst contributing nothing to the team.

We need a striker first and foremost. RVP can't play all the time and the chances that he'll pick up an injury are extremely high.

Our midfield is pretty good so if we are to add they have to be World class. Would absolutely love either Goetze or Gourcuff to join us and add some real creative quality.
Goetze is arguably the finest young attacking mid in Europe while Gourcuff would be a typical Wenger signing.
(he's under performing, has somewhat of a bad boy reputation but is a player with incredible technique and natural ability. I could see Arsene having the same success with Gourcuff that he had with Overmars,Henry and Pires)

I can't see us adding defensively despite our injuries.

It seems that our second string are never really happy. Other clubs don't seem to have this problem to the same degree. Look at Berbatov, given the cold shoulder for ages then scores a hatrick today. We could rotate if we brought in quality. Personally I'd love to see the back of Chamack and Arshavin then bring in a couple of players that could actually win us games if we need something extra from the bench.

I think this is the area that we struggle in, having quality replacements to come in for our first team players. Personally I still think we need one or two more top quality players in our squad (My wish list would be Vertoghen as a CB/LB, Goetze and someone like Higuain or Hulk)

I don't buy the argument that these players would be sitting on the bench, there are more than enough games in a season and coupled with injuries - everyone would get games.

It's been our downfall for a few seasons now, not having quality replacements when we get injuries. I think we need to spend a bit of cash and make two top quality signings (maybe not in January however)

Goetze, Higuain and Eboue. Lets face it, Eboue would be a real boost right now.

If Wenger buys real class (and they want to come!) I'll be amazed.
If he buys in the first 2 weeks -- I'll be amazed.
If he sells any of the obvious 4 in the first 2 weeks - I'll be amazed.

    PLEASE amaze me.......
