So the 1st Jan is fast approaching which means the transfer window is nearly upon us for the second time this season. We are expecting players such as Paul Benson to leave us.

If you were in his shoes would you be looking to strengthen the starting 11 and risk possibly unsettling some of the current starters, or would you be looking to add more depth to the squad? Or do you leave things as they are?

Must be a tough time for SCP.

And maybe bring back up in the form of another goalscoring striker if BWP gets injured (which he wont)

We need someone else apart from waggy who can come on and change a game

Few more games I think about 6 or 5 now the auto extensions kicks in, but yes I'd like to see that extended further still.

Yes, we need 'another' Waggy for the later stages of the game. That's a very good point, an equivalent for the left perhaps?

being totally honest here ,i think we should get (wordsworth colchester but hes going to watford)ritchie at swindon is a good shout very hard working winger and can score goals as well ,also dawson at west brom and cox at west brom, ashley grimes at rochdae another good player we should get i also like taundry at walsall and butler at walsall some of the stevenage players also won 6-1 away at colchester today worth a bargain in bostwick and beardsley.Today i went to welling vs dartford and welling have couple outstanding players in pires on the wing and pugh and clarke up front also have parkinson at the back so this is what i think we need come jan

So Acworth let me get this straight

    (1) You think this squad isnt good enough for promotion then if you think SCP should get another 5/6 players (why not become the Man City of League One??)

    (2) Honest question - If you dont agree with point 1 have you never heard of something called a wage budget?

Surely signing those guys (especially if your including a Prem Bench warmer in Simon Cox) is gonna increase or wage spending to that of lowet league Premiership team

For me I think this squad is alright, Benno will definitely go which will mean squat as he isnt taking up a place in the 16 man squad. Russell will probably become a perm (maybe Ephraim has well)

So that'll fill the left side waggy sub type role, I cant see Jacko as captain being dropped when fully fit for Hogan. But there again no one is / should be asured a place in the 16

I have no idea what CP thinks, but judging by the fact that euell is constantly in the match day squad, I think he's safe till July.

benson, doc, alonso out to free up wages. look at replacing them all with one striker in preperation for next season and to finish this season strongly.

would look at hiring open top buses for may time and prepping for pitch invasions.

It will be hard to get shot of Alonso with his injury record this season. Only way would be if a Spanish club offers to take him on a free I guess.

And if benson leaves then we need another poacher to challenge BWP. Not to be a back up, but to challenge him.. He's going through a drought, would be nice if we had a second option.

While it is true that we need a back-up striker and right-back, this is also a time when CP needs to take an honest look at this squad and decide who he does not believe is good enough. This is the hard part of the job, but if he does not make some hard decisions here we will have some unhappy players in the squad.

Benno for me is the only player who is off in January (Unless the player we buy is a Defender in which case I'd say the Doc would be on his way as well).

Both players were signed in the Parkinson era when we had absolutely no money and according to the new investors we were close to going into Administration so for both of those players to be on high wages and into their thirties I just cant see it.

Jason Euell wont go anywhere else what was the point of signing him in the first place - Again we're still a League One club so we cant afford to go around signing players then 6 months down the line get rid of them, its like throwing money down the drain.

What will be interesting is if Ben Davisson gets a Contract Extension because correct me if Im wrong he WAS only given a short term Contract in the summer unlike Perkins and Tuna who were released.

interesting what you said above addick 4 life,i still think euells days are numbered he cant run his legs have gone what im hereing hes concentrating on coaching so i wouldnt be suprised if he decides to call it a day come the new year and work alongside his mate cp on the touchline. With him and benson moving to swindon, and docherty moving on to luton that will free up at least 10k a week on the wage bill as doc must be on between 3 and 4k i reckon same with benno.Davisson i reckon be released i think he hasnt made the step up so i wouldnt be to suprised to see him at welling ,dartford or ebbsfleet for next season,i think mambo be recalled as ebbsfleet fans think hes their star player so he might get called upon in the new year or whenever his loan ends at fleet.Youve also have a strong youth team comming through like popa, cousens and harriott so im quite happy with the squad, what i was saying we still need i think 4-5 new players in jan just use for squad rotation if several end up with a few injuries u know how we struggled when kee players wernt availble? This is why i sugested these players above ritchie has always impressed me i know for a fact have had a chat with the swindon owner that they are looking to cash in with their star players if the right offer comes in,ritchie will give waggy backup and green if either picked up a knock or two.Dawson at west brom proved it at rochdale last year i know also they want to cash in on cox and dawson so why not take a gamble on them both?Dawson is a superb defender and main reason why rochdale did well last year been hopeless without him ,ashley grimes is another been impressed with we surely can make a move for these players not only strengthen the team but would help the new season when playing in the championship im looking at the bigger picture not just this year.
