This. A few years in the Europa League doesn't make them bigger than us <doh> Forgetting we were title contenders not so long ago?

****ing stupid 'big club' arguments. <doh> Why does it even matter? What makes a club big is so up in the air that it is impossible to define.

Yeah well everythings historical when your a Liverpool fan... But size of a club has to do with stadium, fan base, recent records (2 Champions League appearances eclipses any Uefa Cup appearence) and appeal, we're ahead in every department.

By his definition, Man City aren't a big club.

I dunno mate, I've changed my mind several times on this subject over the past year as its so close between Everton, Villa and Newcastle in terms of size. At the moment I'm leaning towards Villa because of recent history. And I'm not sure who these big clubs you are talking about! Cabaye, I can accept, but I would argue that's more to do with his wages and opportunity to play on a bigger stage, rather than preferring Newcastle to Lille. Ben Arfa? Another decent shout, but he wasn't wanted by his manager at Marseille (or Lyon, not sure which one) so it was a no brainer for him really to move on to whoever wanted him. Davide Santon? Has great potential, but his stock wasn't very high at the time of leaving, and he was on loan at a relegation battling club from Serie A at the time, so he was hardly the hot property he was 2 or 3 years ago when he shackled Ronaldo in the CL.

That's great, it really is, coming from someone who's talking about appearing in the champions league about 10 years ago making you a bigger club.

  11. Recent History? You are the biggest spacker on this board, and seeing as we've had people like MackemLad91, Edge and Cest, that's a massive achievement for you.

For over a decade we were around the Europa spots, the CL spots or challenging for the title. How often did Villa get in the top 4? How often were they challenging for the title?

And by big clubs, I know they wont be by your definition big clubs because your a Liverpool fan and **** over facts and stats. I'm talking about their success at the moment. We tempted Cabaye from leaving a title winning side and also a CL side, to come to us, Ben Arfa was from a CL side, so was Tiote. Santon was from Inter, and is very highly rated.

We can still attract these players and convince them to leave their current clubs whom most are in good positions, to come to Newcastle.

Who's the biggest player Villa have signed recently? Bent from Sunderland, and they had to pay 24 million and most likely offer him a very handsome wage.

Please **** off back to the bin dipper board with the rest of the ******s, cheers.

Chief football writer Phil McNulty on Twitter: "Plenty of white Luis Suarez t-shirts similar to those worn by Liverpool's players before the game at Wigan dotted around Anfield today."

What are you thoughts about this?

Well recent history in my eyes has a cut off point of around a decade. But I'm sure you like to think it starts some time around 1973

Football didn't start with SKY TV.

Villa are a bigger club, accept it and move on.

I have no trouble with fans supporting Suarez, so long as they admit that he directed a racist word towards Evra and made it themselves. However if LFC have been selling them, then it just wreaks of pure arrogance and ignorance from them again. Something which seems to be a common occurrence throughout this situation.
