Firstly, Merry Christmas to all. I have been hearing complaints on other forums about why Evra is Captain in in Vidic's absence and I was wondering what your thoughts are? Rooney, Giggs or Ferdinand for Captain? As I understand Evra's Vidic's deputy but I don't know who is now Evra's deputy. I think Evra is reliable and has played more games than anyone in the team over the past 5 years and he is passionate and very vocal. Obviously a fit and competitive Fabio would help his performances at left back but so far I'd say he is doing a great job. Personally I think Rooney would be a great captain but his temper is an issue when things are going terribly wrong and Jones will defo carry the armband sometime in the future but not now. Interestingly Carrick would be one I'd also consider for the job, he is vastly underrated and I wish Fergie would allow the guy freedom to participate more in our attacking play, he has got a good precise right shot. Giggs can be Club captain as Neville was in his final playing years.
I agree with Carrick as captain in Evra's absence. To me Rooney isn't a captain type player, I think that extra pressure would get to him. Giggs and Ferdinand don't play enough, or in Rio's case he's often injured. Carrick is a pretty vocal level headed player, and it appears he is one of the players the young players like having around. Fletcher would be another person I would look into as captain if he wasn't out indefinitely.
Carrick always seems to need a rocket up his backside, so maybe the captaincy would be a good way of doing that.
