He was given no chance VS West Ham, both Meireles and Gerrard acted without any defensive discipline deserting Lucas.

I agree hashy, in the article it mentions about him cutting out a lot of the stupid mistakes but he does still occassionally make one or two which is acceptaple given his pass success percentage!!

And Shanks, I think Gerrard was wayyyy of the pace sunday I wouldn't have started him personally but then again we aren't blessed with centre mids at the moment.

Meireles doesn't look as solid as I thought he would be, gives the ball away far too much and cannot/never wants to tackle. Stevie had a shocker. Hope he's a bit sharper against United. Lucas needs to play deep with someone, not just be isolated and have to do all the work by himself. We still haven't got a proper DM, Lucas is doing well there but he shouldn't be Masch's replacement.

No Babel was total ****e, at least N'gog used to try, recently he's looked terrible but when he has played up top we've been very poor as a team so I think that's not helped.

Cole - If he doesn't put a run of games together and provide evidence that his fitness and injury probems are behind him then get rid!

Maxi - I think that there are better younger players out there who need match time he's not going to be a part of the future here so getting rid= Happy Days!!

Jova - Nothing at all to evidence that he's talented in any way shape or form just runs fast... Get rid!

Lucas is a good young player that hasn't really settled in one role. When he was used as an AM he was expected to immediately play like Gerrard, when he played centrally he was supposed to have Alonso's passing range, and when he played DM,he was supposed to play like Mascherano. The lad has been pulled from pillar to post.

Agree with the last 2 but think Cole will come good, he's not the player he was but his experience will be great for us to use from the bench once he calms down and stops trying to prove something. He's a good player and just needs to relax and play his usual game.

Good article on Lucas personally I have swung back and fore over the last few years when it comes to Lucas but you have to love his commitment and now fully deserves his place. You don't hear many calls for a DM player at the moment.

Exactly I think the majority of fans were like you going back and forth, three managers saw his worth and I think this season with Masch going he has filled the void reasonably well. I still feel we need to sign another defensive midfielder if we intend to be challenging again.

In this way he's like a fan.

What he doesn't do is lose belief by compiling lists of players who should go. In this way he's more like Kenny.
