    Hi Chaps

I was just wondering what are your opinions on the current plight of Steve Kean at Blackburn and the consistent abuse he is receiving?

As we all know, as a casual fan looking in at another club, the picture gained can be somewhat different from reality. Others who look in can be somewhat ignorant, or commentating with an agenda.

For us Liverpool fans we had to put up with record after record statistics being broken for worst start, worst home form, lost to this team and that team for the first time in 30/40 years, lowest points for this, purchase of this player, horrendous tactics, the most horrendous PR, worst position in many years. But some thought we were still harsh to get rid of Hodgson and they're entitled to their opinion.

With that in mind, fans do turn on the manager. They are the ones who watch regularly and can see where the club is going, how it has fallen. They know they have to change the situation, and the only way they can do it is through voice.

Yes the abuse Kean is being subjected to is terrible, but there becomes a point where you think, "why the bloody hell is he still there?" He should of gone once he realised he had lost the fans and had failed at initial attempts to win them round. If he really liked Blackburn he should of admitted defeat and left with dignity, and thus not suffering any more abuse.

At what point do you think a manager should go? To what extent do you think managers bring on the abuse themselves? Should Kean of already gone?

I bet Blackburn beat us having written that! Merry Christmas to all! :emoticon-0150-hands

I've only lost 17 of 18? Why should I? The fans like me deep down.

Any serious comment to make though mate?

Reason why I have no sympathy for Kean is he simply fails to apologise, pretending instead to revel in the delusion that he can lead Blackburn to a top 10 finish.

With that in mind, anything goes...once the match is over. During the match, you support the team.

This. Can't believe that when he took over last season he was talking of a Champions League spot. He sums up the word 'deluded', and that's coming from a Newcastle fan... ;)

Champions League football? Did he really say that? bloody hell!

I remember when they tried to sign Ronaldinho. Know wonder their fans are desperately trying to get rid of him.

I do feel sorry for him, but that line into stupidity and delusion has just been crossed now imo.

The Venky's are the real problem at Blackburn. Kean's doing the right thing by taking no notice of the abuse and asking the fans to back the team. Also he hasn't walked away and personally I think that was a brave but correct decision. The Venky's should have sacked him ages ago though or gave him full financial backing to get Blackburn to where Kean wants them to be. Kean has to start winning games though as thats the only way to try and win the fans back and to survive in this league however even that may be to little to late now.

    some rovers fan:

"I am a Blackburn Rovers fan and I am here to talk about how our club is dying a slow and painful death.
It's been hard watching the spirit of a formerly well run family club turn into a Lancashire hot pot of hatred and if you've never known anyone with dementia; well what's happening to Blackburn Rovers bears many similarities. Lets start with a definition: "Dementia affects memory, thinking, language, judgment, and behavior"
What has happened since Venkys have taken over pretty much covers all the above:
Loyal servants of our club have been dismissed or forced out of their jobs (memory)
Many mistakes in terms of decisions - the place is just an absolute shambles (thinking)
Terrible PR with some god awful press releases (language)
Keeping Steve Kean with 7 wins in 37 games, Calling Salgado "injured" giving him indefinate leave because if he plays a few more games he activates a clause in his contract (judgement)
Deluded comments by the manager Steve Kean even going as far as blaming Blackburn fans of spiking his drink when he was caught drink driving (behavior)
It's sad to see a loved one (the club) die like this and I will be voting with my feet (not attending games or buying merchandise) as many others are. I will still fight on but with my words against the owners in a constructive manner.
Us Rovers fans are not bad people, just angry and frustrated at how a once proud club is now just a shell of its former self. We do not deserve to be villified by the media - the blame lies with the owners. Steve Kean is somewhat caught in the crosshairs as the only line of communication with the owners but is far from innocent.
Blackburn Rovers are dead; what you see now is just an illusion.
If you want to know more about what is happening with the club please comment below. Us Blackburn fans want the world to know what ishappening so no other sets of fans have to go through the same turmoil."

    and another:

"Kean's agent is the the man who was lead advisor for Venkys right after the takeover.
Kean's record in the Prem at rovers not including this bolton game is G37; W7; D11; L19. A win % of 19.44 in one calendar year.
Kean's record just this season is 2wins, 4 draws and 10 losses with a 12.5% win rate and avg just 1.44 goals for and 2.25 against.
For people who have said fans haven't given kean a fair shake, I don't know how long is a good shake for you, but if after a year you still can't cut it then I think you should be sacked. I doubt many of you would be happy if your club had a record like that.
If Rovers get relegated, there's a very good chance they won't see the top flight ever again. The TV payments have already been mortgaged by the new owners, and the parachute payments would barely cover operations. Blackburn is a town, not a large metro like London, and Rovers would most likely look more like a Leeds then a West Ham.
To add to the animosity Rovers fans feel towards Kean, this is the man who said Phil jones wouldn't be sold, promised top half football pushing for Europe (with the promised "investment" of Venkys, who haven't) and marquee signings. From Big sam and in 13th pushing for top ten we were saved on the last day with a last gasp win v wolves.
This is just the tip of a large iceberg I'm sure no one here really cares about, but it is completely wrong of anyone to be judgmental and critical of the fans displeasure. These are just people who are seeing their small town family club gutted and run into the ground by owners who don't give a **** and a coach pretending to be a manager."

Kean and the Venkys are as useless as each other. I think the fans should support the team for the matches and protest before and after but you can understand their frustration, when the owners are deluded (chasing Raul, Ronaldinho, Vucinic and Beckham at one time or another) and replacing Fat Sam with an even worse manager.

Thanks for that. Sounds the pits being a Blackburn fan currently. We almost died last year, and as a result feel sorry for them rather than believing the media and critisizing them - what happened to us.

If they go down, the owners could leave, and that really could be the end for them.

I'm no fan of Blackburn, but no fan should see their club ceast to exist.

I don't think he's a great manager but the only reason I had some sympathy is I can't see how much better anyone else could do managing such a messed up team

If you mean the owners I understand, if you mean the squad he's put together I will take issue.

A football club still belongs to its fans. If they think the manager is **** it's their right as paying customers to do so. Stuff like death threats is one thing but protesting him and Venkys out at matches is something there is nothing morally wrong with whatsoever.

Thing is, if I performed to Keans level in my job, I would be sacked! In his defence, his superiors are a bunch of clueless idiots (sounds familiar to me) and he is operating under very strict and difficult conditions. However I can understand where the fans are coming from. I would say the end is nigh for Kean and I would take the side of the fans however abuse is not warranted. Don't like it, don't go. Otherwise support the team.
