That's fine, you've got a maximum of three season long bets, you can place them where you like. You can place your season long bets whenever betting is open, but for individual races your three bets have to be in the same post. The fourth post in the thread now has people's outstanding bets in.
This game may out do the sweepstakes you know. £5.00 on Schumacher to beat Rosberg in 2012 please. I am reserving the 2 other main bets probably until mid-season next year. So you will next see me bet before the Aussie GP Thanks.

That's perfect. Are you happy to update it because me and El_Bando don't have your power? Could you stick it in an earlier post as well? Not sure if you can edit it into one of my posts, if not you can just delete post 2 and then stick it your first post.
Why would you not wait and place the bet in the summer break.. where the standings become more apparent. Or am I getting this wrong somewhere?
I'm guessing that Paco thinks he's getting better odds now, than he would if he were to wait. This is one of the interesting things about gambling: the odds evolve over time. For instance, if Alonso begins the season well, which presumably Paco is hoping for, the odds will 'come-in' (become less favourable to the punter and more favourable for the bookie who realises Alonso is becoming more likely to win, and therefore adjusts the odds so that if Alonso does win, the bookie does not lose too much!).
Well, no doubt that's what he's hoping for; but of course, sometimes it can work the other way. For example, if Alonso begins the season worse than 'expected', or even if winter testing suggests the Ferrari may be a bit of a dog to begin with (which personally, I very much doubt), the odds would probably 'lengthen' to encourage people to still place a bet. Thus, the odds offered by the bookies reflect the money 'going down', which are effectively a measure of public opinion and not the bookies opinion - except in the very early stage of attracting initial money! This is why it can be a good strategy for a punter with a hunch, to place a bet in the very early stages; before the money 'comes in' which will cause a bookie to 'shorten the odds'. The bookies make their money by 'laying off' the money they take in, in an attempt to reduce their losses; and of course, they do this with the money they take in from all bets. Something else worth considering is that even in a two horse race between evenly matched animals, the bookie will always try to 'make his cut' by offering slightly lower odds than he is able to get himself (by reputation and much larger sums of money). This is the reason that even when there are only two possible outcomes to an event, the odds will never balance (for instance 5:4 for one outcome and 4:5 for the other outcome, which would allow any punter to cover his bet precisely - if he were daft enough to bother!
To shamelessly copy someone else's idea: £1 on Schumacher to win the Driver's £4 on Button to win the Driver's So that's my first fiver down the drain.
