Tal Ben Haim? We were apparently after both of those two, plus Juliano Belletti and Deco until Chelsea came in.

Looked a class act under Big Sam at Bolton but has looked woeful ever since. Any other NUFC fans recall him squaring up to Shane Ferguson on Fergie's debut last season in the 5-0? Deary me.

That was hilarious. Fergie absolutely humiliated him with a bit of skill , and then he humiliated himself by squaring up to someone half his age, height and weight!

He plays for Bayern Munich II though, so it makes a bit more sense.

Danny Sturridge to Chelsea for what could end up being as much as £6.5m is a strange one for me. He always looked a class act and Man City didn't seem interested in keeping hold of him. I'm sure they're not arsed with the strikeforce they have, but it's not as if he wouldn't have been able to force his way into that team at some stage. What a ****ing bargain though.

Yea they dont care about their future as far as youth goes .. they had a player like Sturridge comeing through but instead of paying his wages for a year, on a few loans, they just get rid .. any PL team would kill for him.

Also does not look good for any youth comeing through at Man City .. even a player capable of first time at Chelsea cant break through, so they aint going to rate their chances.

The Sturridge thing was settled by Tribunal, Man City didn't want to sell. He was under 18 so it didn't count as a proper contract.

Na thats bollocks. City tried v hard to keep him but he wanted parity with some of the first team starters and at 17-18 he wasn't really worth it for them at the time. Nothing to do with City not caring about youth

He was 19 when he left City. Upon reading about it, City didn't want him to leave but felt his demands were too high for them. I guess back then they weren't prepared to pay exorbitant sums of money to anyone who looked half decent. Mancini has come out and said he would never have let that happen had he been manager.

He was only like 27! I know he peaked early at Ajax/ Barca, but he still scored quite a few goals and often looked a class apart. I was a bit gutted when we sold him at the end of the season tbh
