I've highlighted the relevant bit to what I am about to say.

That is exactly what I did! It was the response to my comment that was personally objectionable! That is why it needed to be moderated early. This is what is causing trouble in the forum. It is not the disagreement itself, as I keep saying! It is the patronising, condescending, rude response that is both provocative and inflammatory. And it is that which is the problem not the disagreement!

The complaint is one of how everyone should respond to each other. That it all circles around one individual is neither here nor there, though AG has hit the nail on the head.

What is happening is getting out of control. Beforehand posters would have disagreements with each other and that would be that. Now it gets dragged on and on. As I said in my deleted post, why should we avoid threads just because of who else is there!?

That is a forum comment and not an individual one, so I will be disappointed if this post gets taken down too.

Im not saying dont comment, Im just saying thee olde proverb

    'Dont feed the troll'

Alert a mod rather than cause a battle field. orrr... offer your opinions and engage in constructive conversation. Take somebodies dissagreement on the chin, dont fall for a wind up and get pissy about it.

But it's no good just saying "Don't feed the troll" Bando!

Obviously that is a good idea but when the troll's posts remain on view with subtle and not so subtle nasty remarks aimed directly at an individual, in direct conflict with the supposed policies of this forum, the forum itself loses respect. This is because moderators are far too slow to react to the first instance of the problem.

One wonders why this is. Perhaps it is because moderators either do not notice the deliberate wind-up, which is allowed to serve the intent of its author, or just expect the problem to fade away because everyone will be super-human no matter how goaded they are, in spite of knowing nothing is likely to be done about it for weeks on end - thereby giving the impression that they are not sufficiently concerned!

This forum is falling apart because the moderation is not taking appropriate action soon enough!

I have said time and again that I am perfectly happy to be disagreed with, so long as there is none of this personalised patronising crap! But it is plain ridiculous to let one person run amok, making snidy, patronising, condescending, personal remarks all the way through his responses to anything he does not agree with.

So, any Mr. Wind-Up can congratulate himself on his success this time. It's worked. And the forum let it continue on and on and on. And that is nothing to do with feeding trolls. It is to do with the moderation
which allows it to persist and persist and persist.

    It is plain ridiculous!!

This is getting beyond a joke now. We've got some people claiming others are trolls, but yet they continue to respond over and over to these people. Trolls are attention seekers, giving them attention will help how? If someone is Trolling and no one answers it will soon become clear whats happening. Two people insulting each other will result in two bans, plain and simple, it doesn't matter who started it.
There is an ignore button, this hides the persons posts, please please use it if your eyes have a mind of their own and read what ever they want to.
Stop biting to set ups, trolls, what ever they are.
No amout of return abuse will help.
No form of replying will help.
    STOP FEEDING THE TROLLS!!!

Grudges and continued attacks are becoming out of hand, and I'd prefer only one side to deal with than both, simple as that. I agree with what the other two mods have said on this matter and we have also discussed it via PM, stop the vendetta's before its too late.

Are you saying It would be best if I stand down as Moderator and let somebody else have a go?

Not at all Bando! I am talking about the collective policy which clearly tolerates things against its own manifesto! It is not the fault of any one person. It has become a 'cultural' thing because it has been allowed to persist for so long.

Just have a quick think about some of the good contributors of this forum who are no longer putting in an appearance. Something is clearly wrong!

I have to agree with Cosi, I've stopped commenting on here as much as I used to. In fact, I nearly didn't bother commenting on this as I was thinking 'What's the point? Nothing will get done about it'.

Nobody should change their attitude to debate if it doesn't violate the House Rules in the first place. Appeasement is wrong. Telling someone to leave a comment of their opinion and then not reply if the OP answer's backs is wrong also. The problem is pre-judgement.

I know this may sound daft but maybe we should have a 4th Moderator. You may think that is too many but the F1 board is a special case, believe me. The board is getting bigger and it's unlike any football board on the site. We all know what the F1 board can be like sometimes, a mad difference of opinions.

West coast - I mentioned something similar and the post was deleted.
It seems if you say anything to do with proposing banning - it gets removed!

His temp ban should now have ended. There's some in the pipe-work for others.

So bans are now up and running, this is good swift work.
Participation of the forum should be civil and open-minded.
