Could a possible exit from the Champions League, along with the loss of key players and defeat in the Carling Cup final, signal the start of Arsenal's traditional spring collapse? At times this season Arsenal have seemed to have a bit more steel than in previous campaigns, but are they reverting to type? Only time will tell I suppose...
To say we are reverting to type because of some injuries to key players and an unfortunate draw in the CL is a bit harsh mate, surely?
I hope not, I've wanted the Arsenal kids to win the CC for ages and was gutted on Sunday, especially considering in now makes our Europe claims harder. Hopefully United will crumble to a few defeats now they've looked shaky since Blackpool, even though they won that one they've lost twice since and have Liverpool away next with Rio and Vidic. Although unfortunately I will be routing for United this weekend for obvious reasons. Good luck to the Gunners!
big blow for them, but I still think they have enough in their squad to challenge us even if cesc, theo and rvp are out for a few weeks or so.
He's not saying you are reverting to type, he's saying that's what you have to avoid. You have to admit that over the last few seasons Arsenal have succeeded in getting themselves into some strong positions in the league in the early part of the season, but then faded away quite sharply when injuries and setbacks have disrupted their rhythm. If you want to challenge for major honours this season, you'll need to show improved mental strength compared to 2008, for example. Personally, I reckon that out of Utd and Arsenal one of us will end up with the league and one with the FA Cup. Whichever of us goes out in the 6th round tie will be able to focus more on the league, whilst the other will be distracted and drop some points, falling out of the title race but pushing them to focus on the cup. Neither of us will win the CL - I can't see you guys getting past Barca at the Camp Nou, and whilst we should get past Marseille in the next round, as soon as we come up against Real or Barca our midfield will get found out big style.
How childish. I didn't say you definitely were, I merely asked the question. Personally, I think Arsenal do look to have a bit more balls this time round. Whether or not it will be enough, I'm not sure. If we beat Liverpool on Sunday, I think that will give us the impetus we need to push and win the league back - the same as when we won at Anfield in 2007 with a last minute goal from John O'Shea. If we drop points, mathematically it's no longer in our hands.
"If we beat Liverpool", If If if if if if... If ARsneal had beat NUFC and WBa, If Arsenal had won all the premier league games so far......... If if if means nothing.. Gimp.
Children, children...calm down. It's only a footie chat. I know, I know, more important than death etc etc. I agree with Swarbs- as I usually do (don't ask why) - but whoever goes out of the FA Cup/Champions League in the next couple of weeks will win the Premier League. Logic says so. Simples......Innit?
Agreed, It's not "simples" at all. There is a chance that you are right. But confidence comes through winning games. Alot of the time the Champions win another trophy along with it....
