There is an article in 'Four Four Two' focussing on QPR. Not much new but one thing caught my eye. When TF took over his airline, it was carrying 200 000 people per year. Last year it carried 33 million people. Now, what I know about running a budget airline can be written on a mince pie, but, if the profit (after overheads) is £5, that is £165m for last year alone. When he took over, his wealth was quoted at £200-300m. I wonder whether that was an underestimate? I guess I hope it is and it would make a wonderful New year if he spent more than many on here are expecting him too. The other point of interest is that he was asked if there is Plan B in case of relegation and, perhaps sensibly, perhaps sadly, the answer was 'yes'!
He's an intelligent man that fortunately, for us, love's football. If we do go down, heaven forbid, we'll be right back up. As people seem to forget, 20 months ago we were getting thrashed 5-1 at home to Boro. Where are they now?
That's a sack load of mince pies! Investment is obviously in need and we will see if TF really means business over the next 4 weeks. We desperatley need to try and get something from the Swansea game to keep spirits up before we go to the Emirates. On my Christmas wish list: Players with pace, Hoillet,Rhodes(take a punt), A Johnson and Wayne Fereday.
Money is not the problem ay QPR just sensible movements forward and I sense its all coming . You just have to look closely at Loftus Road the ground in just 2 years ... we have to thank the goons for that.
I just wonder where we would be now IF the goons had prised open their wallets in August rather than blow millions and millions on fake tan and a daughters wedding.......
Don't forget that TF is the front man for at least a couple of other Malaysian investors, one of whom is on the board, if I recall correctly. Therefore, it's not just a matter of TF's wealth, it's his mini consortium. Plus the other major investor is Bhatia/Mittal. We are very lucky to have them.
"When TF took over his airline, it was carrying 200 000 people per year. Last year it carried 33 million people" Multiplying our average gate by the same coefficient we need a stadium that will hold 1,691,200....
