I think we need to give Ba some support as far as putting the ball in the net is concerned. We had Nolan from midfield last season. Cabaye and Cheik wont get that many. So we are going to need our wide men to step up.

I'm not too worried to be honest. We all knew a slump was going to happen. We are still
creating chances and we just need a bit of the good fortune to return.

Not saying im worried. Its just give me a Robert or Jonas.

Id personally have a Robert everyday of the week.

I remember him grabbing 9/10 goals and 20 assists in one season. Awesome.

This season and last season are very different styles of play though. We played a lot of long balls to target men in the box for Nolan to collect the 2nd ball whilst this year we are a far more cohesive passing side who look to break the opposition down.

Ba is doing very well and if anything, we need a better strike partner for him than Best, Shola or Lovenkrands.

If I could bring anyone from the past back it would be Beardsley although I
used to love going to watch Robert.

When crosses/passes come into the box from counter attacks or other attacks built up with pace from the wide positions, Best tends to go for the exact same ball as Demba does which is frustrating.

Ive seen plenty of drilled in crosses and cutbacks go into dangerous places this season, yet totally miss all of our forwards due to them both attacking the same area.

We need some striker or the #10 to hold back and cover different areas in the 18 yard box.

Whenever we do get the ball in the box, its always a little floated effort for the centre forward to battle it out with the defender. Get it whipped in there! Some of Jonas left footed efforts are plain embarrassing.

Robert was class, he's the reason I support Newcastle (As a young lad, I saw my name on the TV screen, and I was sold. He owes me big time...)

I think if we had a better striker to play with Ba (Giroud, De Jong etc.) both of them would score more, as would the wingers. I rate Best, but he doesn't seem to be a huge goal threat at the moment.

That is rather shocking! It does make you wonder how well we would do with two quality attacking strikers.

I can forgive Jonas as he's put so much effort into helping Raylor, but Obertan must must must offer more, or step aside from someone else.

The big worry has to be goals. Other than Ba I can't see where they will come from. Cabaye, Tiote, Obertan and Jonas don't score goals. At all.

Bear in mind though with those stats - downing actually has 0 assists and 0 goals... So not sure how much that proves.

Jonas has 1 assist and 1 goal and has won countless free kicks near the box which we've scored or created from (e.g ryantayloroverthewall)

I'd love to see this line up...

    -------------Krul-----------
    Simpson-Taylor-Coloccini-Santon
    -------Tiote-----Cabaye-------
    Jonas-------Vuckic------Ben Arfa
    ----------Ba--------------------

Im convinced by Vuckic already, think he's gong to be a real star.

Wouldn't argue with this at all. Shame it wont happen. You would think our manager may be up for trying new things.

nah, theres bee quite a few drilled in low recently, behind both strikers though (as they were both attacking the same space - as nick alluded to)

This is all a bit specific and embarrassing dont you think?

What so hard about whipping a dangerous cross into the box? Is it too much to ask?

    Im bumping this badboy.

With Jonas and HBA doing the business v Blackburn, our lack of substance could be a thing of the past.

It all depends how ambitious Pardew wants to be.

I wont be surprised if he goes back to Jonas cover the LB; and Obertan cover the RB tactics. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
