Director of Football Damien Comolli has earmarked a move for the Polish born German international after seeing Suarez handed an eight match ban and was already scouting the 26 year old as Liverpool have been struggling for goals and have been far to dependent on the Uruguayan international.

Andy Carroll has failed to make an impact and with alternative options Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy being more effective out wide there is a very real need for Liverpool to consider making a January more to bring in reinforcements as they look to mount a successful challenge to reclaim a spot in the top four.

Podolski has enjoyed the last 18 months since his move from Bayern Munich to the club he played for from age 10 to 21 and has managed a very impressive 14 goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances thus far this season and Comolli will advise Kenny Dalglish to put forward a bid that meets Koln’s reported €20m (£16.6m) valuation.

Liverpool’s owners are willing to fund January additions as they look to secure Champions League football for next term and having forked out over £100m on new signings in 2011 will continue to back Dalglish next month.

Podolski is an adaptable attacker who can also play out wide as well as in his preferred position up front and Liverpool are keen to bring in the hugely experienced attacker who has amassed a hugely impressive 95 international caps, notching up a whopping 43 goals for the German national team in the process.

Arsenal have also been linked with a move for the Koln man who may well be open to a move away from the Bundesliga, not least because his side, despite his impressive goal tally, find themselves in 10th place.

Thoughts?

Why is it a fail?

Carroll - Young, British, Overrated, Overpriced
Henderson - Young, British, Overrated, Overpriced
Adam - Young, British, Overrated, Overpriced
Downing - Young, British, Overrated, Overpriced

???

I agree with probably two out of the four at the moment, I think Adam and Henderson are coming along quite nicely. Things take time to improve and adjust, if they're still **** at the end of the season then I'll hold my hands up. But atleast give them time.

Yeh true. Hope there's truth in this, would be a good signing for us, especially when Suarez serves his bans

Carroll -
I agree
Henderson -
Young - Yes
British - Yes!
Overated - No-one has overated him since he joined Liverpool, we all know he is one for the future
Over Priced - Wrong! We paid between £12m - £16m for him and he has shown the potential to be worth that amount very soon. This means that he wasn't overpriced

Adam - Young, British, Overrated, Overpriced
Young - He's 26... hardly a youngster
British - yep
Overated - Maybe by fergie and his "£10m rated corners" but we never rated him that highly, this was proved by our "Insulting" bids for him
Overpriced - £7m is a pretty decent deal. He'll prove a better buy then the £15m you payed for Arshavin

Downing -
Young - 27 years old is hardly young for a footballer. Arsenal fans should know what a young footballer looks like, they'vesigned enough of them

British - Yep

Overated - Won Aston Villa's player of the season award last season ahead of Ashley young who was signed for a similar fee so, no.

Overpriced - See above.

You're wrong on most counts. May I suggest you get yourself back to Ja606 with the rest of the ******s

Henderson £12M <laugh> Where the **** did you pull that one from. The deal rises to £20M and that was a bit £20M too much, one for the future or not he has not shown any potential to be a decent player. Adam a better deal than Arshavin <laugh> You're having a laugh, Arshavin even if he is ****ing useless now carried us to 4th place when he arrived which was more than enough to cover his transfer fee and then some. Adam can't even carry your midfield against Wigan. Downing was voted Villa player of the year ahead of Ashley Young and you then go on to say that he is not overrated? £20M for a winger who hasn't scored a single goal or made a single assist. Tell me what on earth does he ****ing do then to become so highly rated?

While it's Christmas, Batmanu, I'll be lenient.

F..K RIGHT OFF <ok>

Ok he has produced no assists but he has also produced the most crosses in the premier league

He's possibly the saddest **** on the internet. Spends his days trolling and wumming forums and he's been at it for years now, what a ****ing loser. Obviously some nerdy kid that gets picked on at school and retaliates by acting a **** on a forum.

Podolski isn't good enough for the higher reaches of the Premier League.

A Player who I believe would make a huge difference at LFC, for perhaps 18 months, and is probably avaialable for the kind of money you have..

Didier Drogba.
