Grudge number 236: Jackson's Wargs were just hyena/wolf crossbreeds not the supernatural wolves in Tolkien.

Your take on that scene would be my choice. Good call <ok>

What with giant spiders being involved there is a horrible possibility that it might end up like that ridiculous canyon scene in King Kong with all the giant insects though!

Haha ... nowhere near his class. Have I ever mentioned my undying admiration for the acting ability of one Nicholas Coppola (Cage) :bandit:

Fooking nepotism gone mad. Claims he changed his name so that people wouldn't think he only got his chance because of his family. When the truth is he changed his name because once you've seen him on screen for five minutes you know he only got his break because of his family and he is hoping that people won't find out he's hollywood royalty. Rant over ... and breathe ...!

I watched the first 20 or so minutes of 'Bad Lieutenant' recently and it was horrific.

My Internet connection is **** now so I can't download films like I used to be able to. Got some great ones though, just been having a flick through my files. I'm sure everyone has seen both French Connection films, but anyone who hasn't needs to.

    Good grudge!

But to be fair they were barely in the fellowship so they probably didn't want to invest the time it would take to establish what they were only for them to not re-appear. They could have done it though, just have a brief clip of the bodies evaporating.

Posted my comment about The French Connection films and then read this... I just hope I don't read that Nicholas Cage has been cast as Popeye Doyle if they ever remake it <yikes>.

Aye, you're not wrong mate -- I couldn't believe it when I found out my missus (who is quite the cinemaphile) hadn't seem French Connection.. it just didn't make any sense.

She's another one who cannot abide LotR... believe me you haven't had one of your icons insulted until you hear a Canadian lass taking the piss out of the movies in what she belives is a 'hobbit' accent but actually sounds like someone from Somerset. Her 'Sam is gay for Frodo' sketch is quite funny mind.

Scary thought! Actually as soon as i posted that I had the nightmare thought of him reprising the role of Rick in Casablanca. I visualised him stood there in the white dinner jacket, martini in hand doing a totally ****e Humphrey Bogart impression ... made my hair stand up on end! <yikes>

French Connection ... brilliant btw classics <ok>

To be fair there have been articles written about the lack of female characters in the book and the suggestion of a homo-erotic relationship between Frodo and Sam.

Think its bollocks myself. People forget, Tolkien survived the trenches of WW1. The relationship between Frodo and Sam represents the bond that forms between soldiers facing almost certain death together and somehow surviving. Alot of the symbolism of that story comes from experiences of that war and the industrialisation of europe.

I know what you mean re having your idol ridiculed. You should have seen me the day that an ex who had seen Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkhaban the week before and knew nothing about the history of LOTR, claimed that Gollum was a rip off of Dobby and the Black Riders were obvious copies of the Dementors. I was totally speechless ....! ;)

You forget about any gripes you have with the film during scenes like that.

That was my point earlier, I prefer to enjoy them as standalone movies, not movies of books.

That clip is certainly gayer. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Ansolutly - Jackson made bloody good movies. They weren't the books but also, they didn't star Nicholas Cage.
