...or 'too much ****ing perspective' as the great David St Hubbins of Spinal Tap said. Have watched the response on here with interest. I had a great time in Ellerslie Road X block, mainly because I was in row Z so could stand up ( or crouch down when the ball was at the School End) and the lads around kept up a constant barrage of chanting with the result that my boy has now lost his voice.
Sunderland deserved the win and the final score flattered us. They have two very fast and intelligent players in Richardson and especially Sess. Bendtner was too much of a handful for our CBs, but as soon as I saw the defensive line up I was nervous. Young and Ferdinand are our only premiership quality defenders and only Young was playing. Traore is the best winger in the club, by miles in my opinion, but he's no defender. As for the rest, Faurlin, my favourite, is not on form - never the fastest he seems to be taking an age on the ball at the moment. But he supplied the passes for both goals and had a barney with Barton at one point. There's passion and frustration out there - a good thing. Joey - well he never hid. Adel provided the only real entertainment value, I'd be happy to see that every week, but can't forget the first half at Spurs. HH, what a man. SWP did what he has done for his entire career, don't understand why people expect anything different.
As to the response from posters on here, really, get it in perspective. There's a reason a large number of promoted clubs go straight back down - this is the toughest top flight league in the world. We have a squad built for the championship plus a few last minute/ panic buys, a few of which have turned out well, others less so to date. We have a manager with 2 seasons experience at the top level, both of which ended in relegation, who is 63 years old and has a set approach to the game. He worked a minor miracle getting us here and will get the full support he deserves for the whole season, quite rightly.
Prediction......we will stay up. We are not in the drop zone now, so it's all in our hands. Because in TF we have the best owner I can imagine for a club like QPR, there is still enough about us to win enough games, and the league is so tight that, as DT is so fond of reminding us, the difference between 17th and 8th is tiny.
I am off to see us at the Emirates, and fully expect to see us beaten. But if we can return to the intensity of our 'good' ten minutes last night and the City and Spurs 2nd half games, I will be happy. Especially as I also expect to have a seat designed for an adult at the Emirates.
Over and out and enjoy your Christmas.

Nice balanced article SB. Although we do find ourselves in similar territory to many promoted clubs I can't help thinking about the many good performances we put in earlier in the season even if we were often not rewarded with a good points tally. As a result I have not been thinking about us as relegation candidates until the last few weeks when the energy seems to have gone out of the team. I think some of that has to do with the minor injury crisis we have been going through but I'm pretty sure there is also frustration at some of the tactics and I'm not at all convinced that Barton is having a positive effect. Time for Warnock to step up and show his PL credentials IMO.

have to agree with everything here, very balanced and considered take on where the club and team is at right now, cheers SB.73! i too noticed Faurlin having words with Barton and I was actually quite pleased to see it - shows that not everyone inside the club thinks he's completely untouchable! one of the most encouraging things though was the performance of Adel - 2 aspects. firstly it was brilliant to see him get stuck in and use some upper body strength to hold off players rather than just falling over when he felt them behind him - that was what he was sorely lacking at the start of the season; he fell over, gifted possession to the opposition and then threw a strop for not being awarded a foul, which quite rightly led to him being dropped. secondly he seemed much more willing to play the quick and simple pass, just dropping it back to faurlin before making a run and pulling players out of position. all in all a much more mature attitude from our number 7 that has really contributed to his game. very refreshing and long may it continue!

Well said SB! Best of luck at the Emirates, although I assumed that the Arsenal match would be cancelled because of the threat of strikes, hopefully not though. <ok>

Thanks for the comments lads - the trip back up the M40 plus involuntary parking on the Westway gave me time to ponder.
Obviously better check out the Gooner situation, or at least read a newspaper occasionally - was unaware of strikes that day....

The strike is on Boxing day, so our game on NYE should be fine.

Got a ticket for the Arsenal game so looking forward to seeing how good our new stadium CAN be ;)
Heard its a pain in the backside getting away from there after the game but the little angels open the bars after the match so you can have a beer or two while the crowds disperse. Now thats intelligent crowd control.

DT I will be shouting twice as hard as usual, trying to burn off the Xmas holiday calories. Whether its business or pleasure have a cracking time in Mexico ( not been there for 25 years, but loved it then, go native it's the only way). I will miss the most consistent voice on here - hi ho silver ****ing lining and cheers from the Fool.

Steady on, a well thought out reasoned post on Not606, whatever next? Nicely put Stanley and not just because I think similarly. I’m now awaiting Col’s equally well thought out comments which will probably be in a stark contrast. Who knows, we may even get a sensible debate.

As for those seats at the back of the Ellersie, I know what you mean. Since they expanded the gantry the view is somewhat restricted for those they need to stand. I did watch the WBA match from the lower stand at the School End, those seats have noticeably more leg room, you can actually sit down.

Wow, the heavyweights are out tonight - Roller and Brix. I'm flattered. I'm trying a new approach - really long posts that only those who are prepared to read and think will respond to - hence the good stuff from Aaaaagh and Liverpool. At least the Tourette's brigade haven't joined in. Did something similar on the Suarez thread and got some interesting responses there too. Though, in truth, that was an intemperate rant. Anyway, I'll keep trying but probably only a couple of times a month, when there is something worth saying, or someone else has posted something stimulating. DT and Swords are always worth getting involved - polarising perhaps but they actually read and respond, and make you think. Everybody's view welcome of course, that's what a forum like this should be about, trying not to fall back into the condescending mode....
Have a great Christmas guys.

TBH...I think that's a very good article. I also liked QPAAAAGH's response.
I do think though that the jury is out on whether NW can cut it in the Premier League!!

For some reason I only had time to skim this thread when it was first posted.
Now sitting here on Christmas evening while the rest of the family watch Downton Abbey,
I thought I would come on here and get my daily fix of Qpr and read through a few post that I may not of had time to read previously.

This is one of those threads that is so well written and the points so well put that it's difficult to oppose anything that's been said. Nice one Sb73, this was a good and interesting read.
