OT The hobbit movie in 2012

  1. Am I the only one that can't wait for this?

The Lord of the Rings series is without a doubt one of my favourite series of movies. Return of the King was amazing and even the people who didn't like the first two movies really enjoyed the TROTK.

Anyway, there's a great cast list for the movie.

A lot of the old actors are back such as

    Orlando Bloom
    Christopher Lee
    Ian Mckellan
    Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith) <cool>
    Eliah Wood
    Andy Serkins (Golum)

And there's some good new ones such as -

    Steven Fry
    Brian Blessed

The trailer looks class but I turned it off half way through, don't want to spoil it.

It's going to be a massive movie, split into two parts and the 2nd part will be released the year after.

Anyone else looking forward to it? Can't believe it's been 11 years since the first LOTR movie came out! I was only 9!!

    Seems like only yesterday.

I preferred The Hobbit book to the LOTR trilogy, so expecting the film to be better.

I'm looking forward to the final Dark Knight more though. <ok>

It's a great book, I hope the film doesn't butcher it.

But I agree, LOTR movies were great, and Martin Freeman is in the main role so I think with similar producers and cast, it'll be good :)

The book is amazing, the film will find it hard to replicate it, but it trailers shows good signs.

**** **** ****!!!! Is that Peter Jackson dick doing it. He ruined LOTR and now seems to be going in a similar route with The Hobbit and the needless cast members (what is Bloom doing there, Legolas aint in the book so why is he being written into the film <grr>). Instead of trying to make a quick buck out of it, quit destroying Tolkein's middle earth and leave it to the reader's imagination on how events appear.

Surely Jackson will finally realise his limited abilities and wont attempt to desecrate The Silmarillion in the same fashion.

The latest trailer Dark Knight has only made me more excited. It doesn't give anything away. Worth a watch.

Although, saying that. From the second trailer, this picture is online. Not sure if it means anything or just film nerds looking into it too much.

(safe for work, Tash might just consider it a spoiler if he doesn't want to see anything. I'm a considerate bastard.)

I thought The Lord of the Rings was good on the Gandalf and Co side of the book, but the Frodo side is ****ing awful.

    (The film, not the book)

An ex-girlfriend made me watch the LOTR films, and I was so disinterested, I can't even remember a single thing that happened in them.

Im hoping anyone who read the books before the film release will share my disappointment with the lord of the rings films. I cant come at it from the view of someone who didnt experience the books before watching the film so maybe they are good in their own right but nearly knowing the whole thing off by heart I must have torn half my hair out in the cinema watching those films

  19. I actually like movies more if I haven't read the books, not because I already know the story, but because most movies are let downs compared to the books, and if I haven't read them I tend to enjoy the movies more.

The Harry Potter books were great, but every HP movie after the 4th one is awful compared to the book.
