The problem is, we've improved on our depth, but not in terms of match winners. We don't need to ditch anyone at the moment, bar maybe Carroll and Downing. What needs to happen though is that we should keep the same back 5 we've currently got plus Lucas, Gerrard and Suarez. Then start buying young players who can make a consistent impact in terms of goals and assists in the attacking third. Tearing this team up and starting again would be ridiculous, especially when our defence is as good as it is, plus our approach play has been up there with most teams this season, its just in the final third of the pitch we've let ourselves down too often.
Liverpool still look more comfortable counter-attacking than breaking teams down, so you'll get good results against the top sides but frequently struggle to beat the rest. You had to commit extra men forward in an attempt to get a winner against Wigan, but they found huge gaps when they countered, mainly from their willingness to beat the first man in midfield. Lucas looks essential for you at the moment - it shows when he is out.
