Stan collymore disagrees with it. He was on talk sport and said while in spain this summer he was amoungst a group of spanish with 2 black people where the spaniards used the word. Collymore said, while it wasnt meant in a nasty way, there was an undertone of sniggering and joking, knowing that it is offensive
I think you'll find that this "fact" -as you put it- has indeed been discussed ad nauseum. Try reading back a day or two.
Again; Stan Collymore: English Blackman: obviously in a better position to comment than all those Spanish & south Anerican black people....show me a comment from one of them and I'll give weight to that argument. Again; believe this backs up my earlier supposition that Anglo/American (for want of a better term) black people are transposing their history; negative & positive onto other nations black people without bothering to see if the culture & history of their struggle was the same. I believe this is as racist as when the white missionaries did it two hundred years before.
Apologies: I meant some within the Anglo/American black community; I do not want to persist with generalizations
The whole thing is pointless until the evidence is released - and to be fair the more sensible Liverpool fans have reserved judgement until the evidence is heard.
It is not like suarez has just arrived here from his home country, he has been playing in europe for 3 years, he has admitted using it, but not in an offensive way, that is why he has been charged, he is in the wrong
Their opinion would be valid if WE WERE IN SOUTH AMERICA!!!! this is the point we are in england and it is not allowed, fact
Look, perhaps someone else will be in the mood to argue this one with you. I have set out my views in several carefully thought out posts earlier on in the debate and have no desire to distil them for you because you can't be bothered to keep up.
You are confused me thinks MO You've just Used a conversation witnessed by an englishman held IN Spain as an example of how the word Negrito has some kind of sinister racist undertones. I ask you provide a Spanish black persons complaint about the word and we're back in England. Make up your mind. While we're at it. From what we know the Suarez/Evra conversation was held in Spanish so Spanish cultural nuances must be taken into account as opposed to what you are doing which (when it suits your argument) a direct translation and remember that the direct translation has no specific race slur but is a description (back to all the previous pages of intent argument) But as you wish. Shall we also believe the rumour as that still is all we have: that Evra went on record as saying he used the term "Sudaca" which in Spanish is a pretty nasty insult referring to ethnicity/nationality which would get you a punch on the nose in Spain because that was said in England too. Same punishment due Mo?
"If the evidence isn't provided immediately LFC should seek a court injunction forcing the FA to hand it over " Absolutely! I've sat on both sides of the table in misconduct hearings as both a union rep and a manager. There can be absolutely NO justification for this delay - what are they waiting for, Ferguson's assent? All the notes and transcripts should have been ready before they announced judgement: God knows, they delayed making the decision for four days as it was. You just know what happened: "FA here chaps. What's happening with that Suarez thing? We've got Ferguson and various single-interest pressure groups onto us for a head-on-a-stick , and you've already taken two and a half months. Thing is, we know we won't be able to charge Terry as his case is going to the courts, and we know if Suarez goes to court there's utterly no chance of a conviction on the basis of hearsay and a proven, unreliable witness. We know Ron Dennis has been updating United with reports, as Evra's been quoted in the press telling his teammates what the verdict is and what the ban will be. You've had long enough with that ducking-stool - when's the burning at the stake?" "Just give us a few days. No evidence whatsoever for the season's ban you've promised Sir Alex, but we'll get the announcement out before the Terry news and then rustle up something over the holidays, by which time you can brief all the friendly papers and news outlets that it's all Liverpool's fault for not crucifying Suarez themselves without seeing the evidence. By time we eventually slip something out in mid-January, the press will have painted themselves into a corner so much that the paucity of the evidence and our perversion of the procedures will be ignored as they try and justify their initial condemnations of Liverpool's reaction." "Great stuff! Merry Christmas and trebles all around of that single malt that Alex sent us with the brown envelopes!"
It's that sort of bollox that gets on my tits. There has been a fair amount of sympathy and people refusing to call Suarez a racist up until now from us united fans but we still have to listen to how it's all SAF fault - get a grip. Suarez admitted saying it, I think the FA may have been harsh imo but thats got **** all to do with Fergie.
Aw,come on Eric, lighten up. The last was obviously tongue in cheek. Take it in the same way we're meant to take the one about Carroll being handed a starting place. Not much of a subscriber into conspiracy theories myself so I don't go with the Fergie Mafia business too much. But the FA have opened a can of worms with this and they should have been more transparent with their process because there's an awful lot of wild speculation coming from both camps.
I know it wasn't so much directed at that specific poster ( sorry DD ) but there has been plenty of posts on here over the last few days blaming United and suggesting it's down to Ferfies influence. Even Commas is on the United board saying he doesn't think he was racist but he was just naive The FA are a bunch of idiots and this sort of thread will rumble on until the evidence is released and unfortuntaley possibly after. I just want to get back to the 'friendly banter' so I'm going to leave the Evra/Suarez ****e until the evidence is released By the way Saint, you got my vote for best LFC poster
Why the delay then? SkySports saying the evidence and written reasons won't be available now until mid-January. Why? Even as a United fan (and yes, the Fergie thing is just a p1sstake) even you must sense something sinister here. Did they just gamble that because it involves race Liverpool wouldn't dare stand by their player until the evidence was produced because they'd be condemned by drunkards like James Lawton who haven't seen the evidence? And, if it's so facking compelling, why hasn't the file been handed to the DPP? Was in the Express today that Evra may still consider reporting it to the police - bring it on! Let's put BOTh of them in front of PROPER court, with ALL the evidence in the public domain. And put Luther Blisset, Bernard et al in their too for condemning Liverpool for not executing Suarez on the say-so of a quasi, kangaroo court that rushes out verdicts without any written evidence nor reasonings. As said, I can't wait to see if Evra has racially insulted Suarez because I for one will be immeadiately reporting it to Merseyside police, as was the case when a member of the public reported Terry.
To be honest I'm not sure and it's really frustrating. It may be something to do with policy or something due to the appeal procedure still being an open avenue but that's just guessing. If it is one persons word against the other than heads should roll at the FA because that would be a joke in the eyes of any football fan. That's why I think there must be more to it, however you never know with the FA. My original post was more out of frustration from the previous events so I apologise if I caused offence.
darko I bought the Independent for years but haven't read it recently. I was always baffled that Lawton won awards for his bloody awful meandering prose. I often had to read a paragraph two or three times to try and work out what he was trying to say. I haven't read it, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's written a load of old tosh on the matter. Is it online do you know, or just in the paper.
