really? You really want to throw that **** do you King?! Look at Evra over the past 2-3 years and see the way he goes down as if he's been shot. Look at the way he has attempted to deceive refs week in week out, you want to defend this do you? Let the football do the talking and not aim at getting opponents in **** all the time, but then again if he was any good at the game, we wouldn't be in the situation with the race claims that we find ourselves at the moment - Typical Man Utd fan who only sees the good in his own team, and before you thyrow that back at me in a vain hope of retaining what credit you have left, I'm not defending Suarez for his diving or even what he said or didn't say to Evra but perhaps people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones eh?!
"At least he didn't get a 8 month ban for missing a drug test even" True, and they specifically stated that Suarez WASN'T racist (as did Evra). You'll not that they didn't make any statement about Ferdinand not being an habitual user of recreational drugs at the time. Draw your own conclusins.
Rush - all this takes place in the American/British context of using ******/Nigga. Its certainly not everyday language here, well, not in my neck of the woods. If, on the other hand, you live in a country where this is the normal frame of reference between people, then this is not an issue as it is in UK/US. If as reported he said "Porque negro/negrito", which generally translates as a 'Why (little) black man?' and bearing in mind that Evra is a french national, not british, I'm wondering just now bad this really is in France? And if no intent to be racially offensive (and when asking a question, its pretty hard to put in a racist catcall in english), is it honestly racism? and does it deserve an 8 match ban?
8 month ban for missing three drug tests, not one. Rio kept forgetting to meet up with the testers... Still, its better than the 2 year ban that'd be handed out if found to have given a positive test. Which is why so much got kicked up over the sentencing. The clear message was if you take drugs, miss your mandatory tests and get a smaller ban than you would get for taking drugs... A bit like the message now - don't say a word, just kick your (enter racial group of choice here) and get a 3 match ban rather than an 8 match ban and fine...
Three? He missed one test, and phoned up the same day to offer to take the test. He then completed the test within two days, and it was his first offence. Mutu got seven months for testing positive for cocaine. Hard to see what Rio could have taken that was worse than cocaine...
I love the way scrag head kenny thinks the fa have no real evidence, even though suarez himself has admitted that he used the word negrito. Poor old thick scraggy **** has no clue what is going on around him
France? What has France got to do with it? We're in England. Evra plays for an English club. He's lived in England for 6 years now. Whatever Suarez's intention was (noone will ever know that) the fact is that saying something that can be construed as racist is stupid. The ban will probably come down to 4 on appeal which I think is pretty fair but hopefully it will even stop players from even thinking stuff like that.
Why, as Evra admitted abusing Suarez in Spanish in his testimony (intent) whereas even the FA cannot prove intent in Sqarez's use of 'negrito' isn't the QC on the panel, as an Officer of the Court, not reporting Evra to the police? Luther Blisset in the Times today called for Suarez to be charged in a crinimal court: bring it on! It may be de-rigour and right-on nowadays for companies and organisations to set up their own kangaroo courts with quasi-justice and arbitrary penalties, but let them BOTH face the proper scrutiny of the Crown Court and let's see which one has actually broken the law. In fact, based upon his testimony, why are Liverpool waiting for the FA to act (Fergie's permission?)? Report the little, opportunistic chiseller now and, forced to reveal evidence, we may find out exactly how much influence Sir Alchy has had in this whole process from the moment he persuaded Evra to embelish his story and report it to the referee, to how the panell sought his approval for four days as to what penalty they should impose.
"hopefully it will even stop players from even thinking stuff like that." The ultimate aim of every HR policy wonk on every diversity seminar you've ever fell asleep in... Are we not allowed to THINK that a person is small, bald, tall, blonde, big-nosed, fat, skinny, loud, spotty, cross-eyed, bandy-legged, pasty-faced, baggy-eyed, goofy, grey-haired, big-eared, beetle-browed..... Because that's the ultimate aim, isn't it? The intent of all these actions (Suarez's wasn't, Evra's was) is not what these people are bothered about. It's the THOUGHT that you may use your God-given senses to identify the fact that we ARE all different (and describe it as such) that they want to control. And for the record, Evra is a small black person - and that's the nicest thing I can say about him at the moment.
From what I've read, it has only been allegded and that Evra accepted making an insult but no where have I read it was a racist term. Where are you all getting this information from? Given Suarez's recent and past behaviour can one truely bebelieve that he didn't know it could be taken racially since he has been in Europe? If he wasn't punished at all, you could bet he would do the same the next time he saw Evra. You Liverpool fans bradished Evra as a liar while your own player is no saint, in fact, Suarez is actually much worse.
"The young striker set to return to Chivas with all the willingness to be helpful: "We are 100% to work with intensity, under the command of Technical and humbly to assist the team in this postseason, which seeks bicampeonato" "Chicharito" Hernandez yesterday highlights the goal scored by another young man as Omar Esparza, in a win over Tigers: "I liked the goal of the Negrito (Omar Esparza), I think it's a sign that Chivas youth, we are ready to respond in big games such as playoffs. For my part I will continue working with humility to earn a chance"
8 match ban there then it would seem to me that rationality didn't much enter the FAs heads. it would seem from suarez's lawyer that in actually fact had the FA handed down a 3 match ban and a statement that acknowledged that cultural differences created a difficult situation in which the victim in the case felt abused and while they see no such insult was intended it must act so a 3 match ban was given.... I think suarez and lfc would have swallowed 3 matches ..... oh just like precedence in previous case other have been handed. The issue is pretty clear. break a leg, 3 matches assault a ref 11 matches have actual evidence the police bring you to court for a 2500 fine. i'd love to know the rationale behind 8 matches cos it seems to have been prejudged cos the press (who've been getting fed insider stuff since day one) published articles stating 6matches was actually low. day 1 the story was 6, then over a month ago we heard about it being bigger ergo there was some predetermination going on. I think we need to hear how 8 matches for saying something came about, what procedures (written in FA law) were used to determine it and what evidence was used too.
Any credit I have left ? Calm down lad. I'm simply pointing out that Suarez also tries to decieve referees and wind opponents up. As for the typical United fan - grow up. I don't not fail to see the short comings of our own players one bit - please point out where I defended Evra ? or does it just suit your rambling to pretend I did ?
Well, as I said in another thread, the FA rules say: 1. Standard two match ban for insulting or offensive behaviour, words or gestures (the ban Rooney got) 2. This ban is doubled for the use of any reference to race, gender, sexual orientation, religion etc, regardless of intent 3. Disciplinary committees have leeway to increase the punishment if they think the case merits it So the 'standard' punishment for Suarez would seem to be four matches. Which raises the question of why double it if they accept he's not a racist and wasn't acting in a racist way?
sky bet offering odds of 4/7 that the ban will be reduced Then they'll just ban him for 8 games for his finger gesture at Fulham. It's what Ferguson has paid for...
You do realise SAF can track your movements through the internet using the tracking device he has arranged to be implanted in all Liverpool fans, right? Evra's on his way right now to accuse you of being a racist! Run you fool, run whilst you still can!
