Andy Burnham said that British politics isn't working.
Those were just about the first words he spoke after winning the by-election.

He would go a long way to restoring some faith in British Democracy if he offers the People a chance to vote on his policies.
That is, assuming he plans a different direction from that laid out in 2024.
I can't really see how he can restore that faith if a change of style is all we are going to get.
I believe the deep disillusionment being felt across the Country is about more than Keir Starmer simply being a dull, boring communicator.

Speakers moved out onto the street in front of No.10.
Prime Minister to make a statement 'imminently'.

EDIT:

He's done one :emoticon-0150-hands Probably for the best.
Personally feel sorry for him. But he just wasn't cutting through. People by-and-large don't feel any better off, or better about life, than they did in 2024. It's been a very long time since people have felt good about anything.

So it’s cheerio to one lying Labour twat.

And welcome to another lying Labour twat.

Meanwhile the country continues to swirl further and further down the toilet.

If AB calls a General election, would you concede his is not a dishonest person?
After all, it would be more than Lettuce Liz or Richy Sunak did when they got the job.

There's nowt like giving someone a chance, and that's nowt like it. If, as expected, Burnham wins it's time to get radical and use the large majority. :emoticon-0103-cool:

What does ‘get radical’ involve exactly ? It’s a catchy phrase but what are his policies ?

That’s a cop out. You can put that answer to any question in the world. Details please.

We will get the details from AB himself once he is Prime Minister.
Or beforehand if there is a competition for the post.

The implication of your earlier message (one lying Labour twat...) is that you regard all Labour politicians as liars.
Is it your view that political opponents are all dishonest simply because their politics differ from yours?
That's a classic Trumpian viewpoint.
I hope you didn't mean that.

No, that’s just in your mind. My comment is based on facts. Starmer said he wouldn’t resign and would fight any challengers. Burnham said he’d serve his full term as Mayor and then didn’t.

You must stop this putting words in my mouth that I haven’t said. It’s becoming very regular and It just leads to conflict.

It’s simple enough and there are no wider accusations against all Labour MP’s. But both Starmer and Burnham have very obviously lied in the very recent past.

I'm glad you did not mean that people with political differences from yours are all untrustworthy for that reason alone.
President Trump's supporters believe exactly that, and sadly it is a view that is spreading like a cancer through politics.

There never was such a thing as a politician who never changed their stance, regardless of changes in circumstances.
Starmer was up for the fight as he assumed he would have enough backing.
At 3am on Friday, he likely realised that the game was up. A day of checking around confirmed it.
Hardly makes the man a liar.

As for Burnham, time will tell.
Intentions change, again when circumstances change.
A politician who ignores circumstances is a fool. Boris Johnson being a good example.

Of course it does. Starmer said he would fight any challengers. He didn’t say “I’ll fight any challengers if I know I’ve got enough support to win”. He lied. Pure and simple.

And Burnham said he would serve his full term as Mayor. He didn’t say “I’ll serve my full term as Mayor as long as I don’t see an opportunity to feather my own nest and usurp the elected leader of my party who won a landslide majority at the last election in which I didn’t even stand”. He lied. Pure and simple.

On your reasoning there is no such thing as lying - just a change of intention when circumstances change. I trust you’ll extend that philosophy to any future politician who has a “change of intention when circumstances change” - or is it only reserved for politicians who you say it does ? If that’s the sort of attitude you support in politics then I despair. Stop digging. It’ll just look worse and worse.

You are stretching credibility way beyond its limits and it has already snapped.

Renationalisation of energy* and transport companies, more devolved power to the regions, building back our industrial base, having growth as a priority, the country would be doing well if it mirrored Manchester's growth rate in recent years. Other detailed policies will become clearer in time.
Oh, and it's not a cop out, it's known as research. :emoticon-0138-think

Every time I oppose your point of view I'm digging a hole.
A couple of times I have backed down in the past, but it's getting tiresome now.
It's a bit rich for someone who supports Arch-liar Nigel Farage to impugn the integrity of other politicians.

Type 'Andy Burnham Policies' into Google and they're there. :emoticon-0138-think

Surely Nigel Farage has never lied. He’s really only occasionally had a “change of intention, when circumstances change” ?

Or are you admitting that your phrase only applies when twats like Starmer and Burnham are blatantly lying ?

Starmer & Burnham didn't tell the British people we would all be better off after Brexit <laugh>

A massive, massive whopper that would have made even Baron Munchausen and Joseph Goebbels blush.
Our Nige wouldn't know the truth if it walked up and gave him five million quid.

Are you claiming that Starmer and Burnham haven’t been caught blatantly lying as I’ve given examples of ?

Or are you just doing the normal and ignoring that issue, while trying to deflect attention away from the facts, by bringing Nigel Farage into yet another conversation.

You seem obsessed with Nigel and it’s blinding you to the faults of those who actually have the power to change things, if only they would stop lying.

Calm down and have a nice cup of tea.
