Not gonna lie, we need something berb as it is like 3 years on the slide ( from being in CL, top 4, etc) and I hope we buy some real quality in January or in the summer. There is def a mental block in there that is wedged in ****ing good.

and better wing play, you lot are a prime example of not the strongest center but you **** teams up with your quality out wide and up top. Can't go spending 20 mil on downing when we could get so many others for less. With Dwoning being brought in to supply Carroll as well........ well that isn't working out so much! Ya Suarez is trying a lot of fancy finishes for me when right now, when you are not scoring, just thump it, toe poke it, do whatever to score. Doesn't have to be pretty or some outlandish finnish.
He's obviously trying to build up some loyalty points for that pint he'll (probably!) soon owe me I almost wonder if you need to do what Utd did in 1988 - accept there's something fundamentally wrong, ditch all the players that are good-but-not-good-enough, and have contributed to the slide and start again with a new group of players. It could mean a couple of years of mid table mediocrity, like it did for us, but in the end the club can emerge stronger and with the winning mentality back. I just wonder if the fans and owners would accept a plan like that in the modern game?
Haven't we just had those? I don't think we need to 'start again', because we're not too far away. Admittedly on paper we're a good distance from yourselves and City, but we don't look a million miles away actually on the pitch. It's a game of fine margins, and unfortunately we've been on the wrong side of that margin too frequently (which I suppose you could say takes the fineness out of it) with all of our near misses. I'd say at this point we need 2-3 quality players coming in to cement a top 4 spot/challenge. Henderson and Carroll I like because I think they will develop into international standard players. If Downing continues his current form, then I'll be content to say he isn't good enough. Adam is sufficient for now, and has actually had his better games against the big sides - aside from Spurs - but I feel we'll need better than him in future. Because we haven't got the quality of winger you have, there's more emphasis in the centre of the park, and I think we could be better there (Lucas being out makes this more obvious.)
