McShane can't be blamed for the money he's on. Out of all the players we signed under Bartlett/Duffen he's maybe not as skilled but he ALWAYS gives 100% whenever he puts a City shirt on and thats all you can ask. People can knock Kilbane and McShane all day long but in my opinion they did there best for Hull City whilst they were here on and off the pitch and thats a lot more than some of the other ****S we had here.
Spot on. They showed they actually cared for the club. Not the best we have had here but you can't have any complaints about their effort or professionalism.
a bit tetchy are we ? there were scouts @ ferriby on tuesday regardless of whether you saw any or not. end of. oh yes, phones are ringing in your kettle and pot dept.
Amazed TFT hasn't SHOUTED on the thread I started about acoustic guitar strings. He does have a comment on everything-ish.....
I'm sorry, but I'm so sick of hearing that statement. In this day and age, pulling on a shirt and running around trying your hardest just isn't enough. If you try your hardest and still aren't good enough, it's time to move on, perhaps drop down a division. I could pull on a Hull shirt and run around for 90 minutes, it doesn't mean I'll make a difference to the side. Trying your hardest comes as standard as a professional footballer (unless you're Caleb Folan) and it shouldn't be put down as a trait. I'd always pick Kilbane ahead of McShane if it came to it, but neither are good enough to play for us anymore, effort or not. It might sound harsh, but that was the approach PB should have taken when we won one of our last 22 games in our first PL season. Every post match interview was a repeat of "The lads gave everything today and I can't fault them." Why can't you fault them? Cameron Stewart is an example of somebody who gives 100% AND has talent. Same with Chester, Evans and Hobbs. If McShane was a racehorse, he'd be cat food and glue by now.
And I'm sure if a professional club came to you and offered you £20k a week you would accept it whether you were good enough or not. I'm sorry but Mcshane came through the ranks at Man Utd and has played X amount of times for his national team who are pretty good and he's also captained them. He is quite clearly good enough for this league he just isn't worth what we're paying him but that's not his fault.
Perhaps, but I'm not talking about the money here. I'm talking about him as a player and how people excuse his ability. You simply can't. He's played for Ireland, fair enough, but then so did Folan and a whole host of other less than average players. He came through the Manchester United academy, which again sounds impressive, but so did Bojan Djordic, Luke Daniels and Tommy Lee (not that one...) and they are all playing lower league football now (with the exception of Djordic, who actually now plays for Blackpool after a random career touring the Eastern Block). I've seen most games he's played in and I don't think he's top half Championship material anymore, which is a shame considering what he and Kilbane did for us wage wise. Like previous posters have said, he wouldn't look out of place at somewhere like Donny or Huddersfield and that's the level I expect to see him at when he leaves us.
Seem to recall him being MOTM in an excellent game against Liverpool We have yet to see Chester and Hobbs against PL opposition
