So the real story is the machine gave him 2 tickets exactly the same instead of an out and in, which he showed to the ticket inspector who was all jobsworth about it, so the 'big man' seeing a guy half his size, decided to throw him off the train and not let him get on to retrieve his bags. I wonder if he would've got involved if it had been someone his own size.
