Is it necessary for Joey to take every corner and free-kick? They've been nothing short of woeful. Chipped in, no pace, predictable and more often than not his corners don't clear the first man. When Adel's on the field, could we not mix it up? Against Sunderland, despite Adel clearly being back on form, he wasn't allowed near any free kicks, despite Joey stinking the place out with them. As captain, surely Joey's got to recognise when it's not going for him and instruct an in-form Adel to have the occasional crack. Against Sunderland, Adel was only allowed the very last corner kick of the match. And guess what? It was the best one of the night - whipped in with pace onto an attacker's head, despite a foul being given. Yes Joey, we all know you're skipper, but live up to that responsibility by allowing someone else to have the occasional go when it's not working for you. A bit of variety might at least trouble the opposition.
Return to form hes plays 65 mins lol.... Lets just wait and see... Agree on the barton Set piece thing he's ****ing awful still thinks hes at newcastle and theres a 35 million pound 6 ft 4 striker on the pitch....waste of space
simon - i probably shouldn't bite - but i seriously think you are getting Adel and Joey's corners mixed up.
Some were poor last night but some were ok to be honest , decent pace etc ( Derrys header early doors was a good knock in ) . I honestly don't think the blame lies soley with Joey on this ( although i agree he should do better ). Our attacking of dead balls is woeful. Whether its defending or attacking we never look like winning a header. I've mentioned before this is costing us points / goals , aside from hiedar , no one looks like they can win a header.
I dont think theres one player who can take a decent corner, free kick etc.Weve seen them all have a go and there isnt one who you could count on.Why we dont practice dead ball siuations I dont know and if we do then we are in deep pooh.
i know Adel has been mostly pants this season. But last night, within 10 minutes it was clear he was sharp, his touch was back and he was generally the player he was last year. He sparked us back to life and when he's in that mood, i would let him take everything and do exactly what he wants. But even if it's not Adel, we must have a plan B for set pieces when Joey's aren't working
"No more Barton set pieces" Too right mate! The trouble is nobody in the squad or it seems around the club has got the balls it seems to tell him to start living uo to his ridiculous f*cking wages, the man gets paid more than Robin Van Persie for crying out loud. If he doesn't buck up his sh*t performances I'll be shouting some honest truths from the touchline. Anyone who tells me to shutup can sod off as well
Fair enough, but his crosses aren't all that bad IMO. He also assisted Helguson's Vs WBA. If some of our players could put some direction on their headers, we would have scored at leats 5 more goals.
