That's Adomah out of the window then. Technically, Puncheon has plenty to offer, but NA is best placed to judge his attitude and I'll trust his judgement.
No thank you, we have a great team spirit and we don't want to spoil it with someone like him! Can use him as a make weight + cash in one of our transfers next month
Do you think Kevin Phillips would come back after the reception he got when he came on for Blackpool recently? I actually felt sorry for him when the "stand up if you've shagged his wife" chant started.
Great news. Just need Adkins and Cortese to accept him back now (although unfortunately, from the outside, that would appear to be asking a lot........I should clarify though, that I wont hold it against the two of them if they don't want Puncheon back).
Not sure about this one, agreed he is a young man with lots of talent, who if correctly harnessed could be an asset. IF, (and I dont want to count chickens) we get promoted we will need some new additions and it's more than possible we could be recruiting from the pool of unproven talent with over inflated egos that circulate around the fringes of other premier league teams so why not bring back in Puncheon? On the other hand, Nigel and his coaching team will have their hands full anyway next year (regardless of if we get promoted or not), stroppy team members take a lot of man management, both of the individual concerned and their impact on other memebers of the team. Why should they be diverted from their key activities to spend time on one misfit, there are other players who wont bring this baggage. On balance I'd prefer us to ship him out again on a loan or permanent deal.
Puncheon on Twitter this afternoon: (2nd part I corrected his English as it was a bit hard to read) "Thanks to all the support from the saints fans...means a lot" As I said when I signed, Saints will be in the prem within the 3 and a half yrs of my contract which looks more than likely it's gonna be ahead of schedule, naturally people gonna look an say he only wants to come back cos we're top and some want him back cos there's a shortage on the right hand side. When all goes wrong who gets the flak then? Just like they're trying to get on Guly's back and we're top of the league!"
Well it's clear to see from this that he talks too much. This will be a problem for Adkins and Cortese. He's not the right sort of player for the team, he just doesn't fit in. I don't think he'll understand the 'collective' ideolgy that Adkins has put in place.
I would take him back - right mid has been an issue since Chamberlain left, and if he sorts his attitude out I would take him back
He is a skilfull player, and if he is willing to play the "Sir Nigel Adkins" way, and play for the team, and not disrupt team spirit, then why not have him back. Afterall he's a saints player, and we pay his wages. The truth is none of us are really knows what has actually happened, and if he is a disruptive toerag or juust asked to go on loan to get more football. Most people on here have an opinion, but noone knows for sure. But I trust Sir Nigel to make the right decision.
The issue that Adkins has is that De Ridder was supposed to be the replacement for Chamberlain but he just isn't cutting it and has had a poor half of the season. Adkins can't rely on him so that means we are desperate for a winger in January. If we can't get someone in then will Adkins rest on his laurels and call on Puncheon ? I really hope it doesn't come to that.
I would welcome him back into the team. But it's up to Nigel, whatever he decides is the decision I will agree with.
If it's right for Nigel and Nicola, it's right for me. They've not gone far wrong yet. If he gets in and works and performs fair play to the lad. Shows character. And if it solves an issue without us shelling out a transfer fee we can save some money for SFC too. I'm for it, if Nigel is.
Rumours surfacing that Blackpool are preparing a bid for Punch. I believe a quick sale would be best for the club (and Puncheon - he might actually be playing some first team football up there!) - more money to put towards a better quality signing.
