Commenting on another team is different tho - SAF isn't the one responsible for motivating Chelsea and keeping them focused. His comments about Chelsea are unlikely to affect how Chelsea play.

Besides which, he's now being proved absolutely right...just a year too late <ok>

I think all managers have to be optimistic about their team to instill confidence. There's a line at being unrealistic, for example if Ian Holloway came out and said that Blackpool will win the league, he rightly be shot down. But I think Wenger is right to believe that Arsenal can go on and win all four. Whether we will or not, doesn't depend on Wenger's view or comments, it depends on whether the team perform, which comes from the manager's belief in them <ok>

you'll certainly win the league cup
fa cup? obviously depends somewhat on the luck of the draw, but with chelsea and liverpool out already
league. dont think you have the mental strength to be honest. as good as the win over barca was, letting a 4-0 lead slip shows how vulnerable you are.
champs league - cant look beyond barca at the nou camp.

league cup, and depending on fa cup draw..possibly.

We definitely need to consolidate our leads to win anything - the four goal collapse at Toon was a massive wake up call

Well he was wrong by two years which is a major faux-pas of cataclysmic proportions.
Both Chelsea & United's squads both need overhauling but Chelsea's problems are self inflicted as opposed to just age as you are soon to find out <ok>

You are arguing over a media misrepresentation of Ferguson's words.

He acknowledged that Chelsea were excellent but that it was hard to see how they could go on to another level given the high level they were already playing at.

He never said they were 'past it' merely that it was difficult to see that they could improve with the same players. He was of course, spot on <ok>
