I came across this phrase 'the Sky Six' on a website the other day. It seemed to make sense to me, as surely the days of the 'Big Four' have passed. They are of course part of the Sky Six along with Spurs and City, and for me Man U, Liverpool, Arsenal are still the three biggest clubs in the country, in that order. As a Premier League founder member, we're part of the 'Steady Seven', but I think Villa and Everton are now trailing in the wake of the 'Sky Six' and I can't see them catching up any time soon.
wtf - are there any more numbers you want to throw in. Spurs = 3rd is the number I like best. Loserpool may be a big club, but they are currently a **** team.
wtf is it with the swearing HD? And yes I could give you plenty more numbers Liverpool are a far bigger club than Spurs - 40 major trophies including 5 European Cups are two of the numbers that point in that direction Enough numbers to be going on with? I was mainly interested in debating this new term of the 'Sky Six', but feel free to make it a 'who's the biggest club' debate
LDL, fraid not, the noisy neighbours may be knocking you off your perch (that's if dinosaurs can get on a perch I think the Sky six is probably in three layers currently Manchester London Liverpool Seems the poor old Midlands is a hopeless case ATM There's a serious decline going on at Villa, and they're the only 'big Midlands Club' (IMHO)
What is there to debate, none of it means anything? I am not interested in a who's the bigger club debate (where did I suggest one?). My only point is that Spurs are, on current form, are in the top 4 and Liverpool are currently not. Whether they sit in a Sky 6 (whatever that is) or not is irrelevant. I am sure they get more coverage than they deserve (and past glories do not justify it), but as far as the title race is concerned they are not part of it.
No way HB, Liverpool are a bigger club than us, and indeed are bigger than any of the London clubs, none of whom have won the EC/CL, for example. They still have wayyyyyyyyyyyy more Prem points than us, not to mention a lorra, lorra, trophies
i would agree with HarryDisciple on this one...because it is meaningless and pointless to me as a Spurs fan wether historypool won thier trophies 20 or 40 years ago.....as things currently stand we are the bigger team..we play the better football..we have the better squad....are finishing higher than liverpool in the most recent of events...so who cares if liverpool were dominant in the 80's and 70's..i think too many of us have bought into what sky want us to belive....its funny how we cant talk about Villa...or even Nottingham forest as being big clubs..because they do play a big role in english football history.....yet they are not mentioned due to thier decline as a team over the years....and the same should be said of liverpool.Having the ability to give Man United a good match every season and paying 35 million for a carthorse does not equate to a club being a big club for me. however GH i am not arguing with your point that the media had created a big 6 because unfortunately for them..the likes of city and Spurs are here to stay....and most of the younger viewers wont know too many teams beyond the original sky 4 so they have to reshuffle the pack as oppose to replace it.....in order to make money.i wnt agree tht liverpool 'are' a big club.....they are not up to too much of late........now if this was a history lesson i might toally agree with you GH.....
No one can deny that Liverpool have won more trophies than most other clubs in world football and that, once upon a time, they were a big club, but so were Leeds. Times change. Empires rise and fall. Rome used to be the most powerful capital in the known world, today it's nothing more than a very expensive tourist attraction, living on its past glories. I would suggest that Liverpool is headed the same way. COYS!
Yep HIAG - I am from Liverpool and curly hair and a moustache I really am less than impressed with some of the replies to this- at least dona mara gave a reasonable and interesting response. I think the 'Sky Six' is a neat category and a useful update on the now outmoded 'Big Four'.
Say what you like, I'm sticking you on ignore. If you want to be confrontational for no reason, that's up to you.
Oh BTW, Hi dona mara, I have to completely disagree with this assessment. 'i wnt agree tht liverpool 'are' a big club.....they are not up to too much of late' Liverpool without doubt are a big club, certainly bigger than us, and for me still the second biggest in the country, though I could understand someone saying they were now third or fourth biggest. But they are a natural and key member of the 'Sky six'.
- well it is Xmas, never too early to start. I take it GH10 is not entering into the festive spirit this year!
It certainly appears so. As I am on ignore I think a quick burst of GH10 is a ****er, is a ****er, GH10 is a ****er . God this is liberating!
To be honest G10's entitled to do what he likes and I can fully respect that but personally I don't see the point in hitting this so called "ignore" button (which I can't even find to be honest, though I won't use it anyway). I'd much rather see what people say and then choose from there if I reply or just ignore it there and then. But hey-ho, it's Christmas! And we're still 3rd so I'm in good spirits!
