I know that Sharp puts himself about a lot and knows where the onion bag is. Other than that, I'm not quite sure what sort of player he is.
I honestly don't think Sharp will come down to Southampton. He might very well fancy playing for the team but I think the deciding factor is what his wife wants to do. She might not want to leave her friends and family in the north at this time of grieving for her lost baby. If that tragedy hadn't happened it might be different but I would be surprised if he made such a long distance move. I hope I'm wrong though!
Agreed. I like my strikers to know how to score. Sharp knows how to score. As for Maynard, well he's obviously better than nothing. Indeed, I'm sure he'd do a good job for us. But I think there are a few better alternatives out there, Sharp being the main one (with Rhodes in 2nd). Of course potentially, this increases our chances of getting Sharp. It's well-known that Leicester wanted Maynard in August, so if they go back for him next month, then that should put them out of the race for Sharp (not only will they not need both, but you'd think Sharp would be put off due to the extra competition).
I was thinking they would rather keep Maynard and let him go for free in the summer than take the money in January. Thhey abviously have confidence in avoiding relegation without him.
