everything in the universe does not work so perfectly just to sustain us, if the universe was created perfectly for us we would not be hit by asteroids and suffer devastating natural disasters, our species and all other species on this earth have adapted to our environments over time, it is our species ability to adapt that has made us number one on the planet. in reality we are insignificant outside of the fragile spec of space dust we call a planet
I disagree with the first bit and agree with your last bit Our ability to adapt cannot/will not save us from asteroids/natural disasters etc. It is for the grace of a creator that we survive. As humans we are going out of the way to destroy ourselves through over use of natural resources/nuclear testing/capitalism etc Its amazing that but for the perfection of the universe we would die of cold or heat if we were slightly in the wrong place in the solar system, and asphyxiate or be poisoned if the air composition was different etc Our planet seems to be the reason for everything else

what you forget is that natural selection occured after the conditions for life were set, not vice versa To suggest that natural selection or our means of adaptation ensure that the planet is fit for survival is ludicrous in all honesty we have no control over anything, without the perfection of the planet we would not exist
