Because copies of the original are available and because in 1400 years the quran has never been changed, you can pick up any copy anywhere (in arabic) and it will be the same
But you have absolutely no proof to say that the book is word for word, which is so highly unlikely due to the age of the books. I don't agree with any of these books (any religion) and don't particularly care for any of the stories in them, my point is that to say any book from 1400 years ago is the same as the copy printed today is a statistical anomaly.

The quran over the centuries has not changed in content, Obviously decorating the covers or even differnt types of calligraphy are a given There are also 'changes' in terms of dashes etc that were added to make the reading of arabic easier. For example put a zabr (dash on top of the letter) on the alif (first letter in arabic alphabet) and it is pronounced AA, put a zehr (dash under th eletter) and it becomes EE Arabs can do away with these dashes etc but a non arab learning the language needs them for accurate pronunciation. This in no way changes the word, in fact prevents it from being mispronounced So yeah the quran has never changed in 1400 years. It has been memorised by scholars from the early days too
