That’s the problem, if we want someone who has already demonstrated their ability to consistently score at high level, they will have been snapped up by the big clubs or drain our war chest even if they are willing to come to us. Yu has provided a surprising amount of assists in the relative short amount of time on the pitch. I don’t think that’s just luck. The fact that there are deflections or missed saves is immaterial as as long as it crosses the line it’s a goal. Lots of EPL goals involve errors like this. He is already part of the team and will cost relative peanuts so well worth a punt. Could be a Slater costing nothing but in time becoming a gem. I agree we can’t purely rely on him and would need other options though.

I do think it's luck. He's provided three assists, the one against Preston moments after coming on where the keeper puts in an horrific effort to save, the assist against QPR where it deflected massively off a defender before being bundled in, and the one on Saturday. That's an incredibly small sample size.

He also has had a recurring ankle injury that kept him out for a large chunk of this season. If everyone is fit, he's the third choice left or right winger behind either Mo and Joff or Millar and Joseph, and I just don't see a need to be signing a third choice Championship winger when in the PL. Yes we won't be able to just splash cash on a proven PL scorer but there will be players we can identify in foreign markets just as we did when signing Belloumi for instance who will have a bigger PL impact for not a whole lot more outlay.

It's both infuriating and heartbreaking when you make your way up to a beautiful location by a river up the North of Scotland and some group of ****ing louts have left discarded bottles, cans, plastic bags and disposable bbq's lying around the place...One heavy downpour, the rivers in spate and this sh!t ends up floating around in a loch!!!

It always gets me how these dickheads are happy to carry a crate of beer somewhere, yet once they've emptied the bottles and it's far lighter, they can't be arsed to carry it back.

Understand the reason. It’s the change of attitude to its once held glory. I saw the attendances from round 4 in 1971 the other day. City had over 30k there and all the other games had similar or way more. It meant something. Anyway I’m old now and it’s past my bedtime <laugh>
In the sixties, there were 40,000 at some games, but these days with wall-to-wall coverage on TV, many are just armchair fans.

I thought Steve Gibson was quite magnanimous in defeat shaking players hands, especially Crooks and Giles.Perhaps he isn't the person we thought he was.

It occurred to me during the game that Giles has had a very weird last four years.

On loan at Boro, gets bought by Luton, loaned to us after six months, plays essentially twelve months with us, then loaned to Boro for six months, then back to us for twelve months to get promoted against Boro.

Apart from a handful of appearances for Luton he's basically bounced between two clubs.

Always admired him Den, a bit like Parish (don't agree with everything he says obviously) in that he's a proper club fan and must have sunk untold millions into the club over the years. The guy at Coventry appears to be cut from the same cloth.

The last month must have been up there with the best finishes to a season. Coming from behind and winning against Norwich, then beating Millwall over 2 legs and finishing off by beating Boro in the final, was sensational.
The entire season has been like a TV drama, from rumours of bankruptcy and a transfer embargo to being virtually unbeatable and looking like we’re in with a shout of automatic promotion, to dropping out of the top 6 with one game to go to, well, this. It’s real Hollywood blockbuster stuff (particularly so in light of the actual Hollywood team falling at the final hurdle with the Boro fans singing our song at them). Priceless

They can't even sell out the Etihad. If it wasn't for tourists it would be half empty, and very embarrassing.
Interesting, 10 years of Pep and they couldn't overtake the Man Utd fanbase, plastics have overwhelmingly stuck with Utd. My daughter worked at the National Football Museum when a student there and if Utd were at home it was full of tourists and quiet when City were at home. You must need much longer to shake glory hunters out the woodwork, same with L##ds.

And Pandur just conceding 1 goal.
What’s more impressive about that is how we limited all of those opponents to next-to-no-chances. The tactics were sensational for the last four games. The form side in the division, the side that had sat in automatics for 35 of the 46 matchdays and the side that was third, just missing out, and ten points ahead of us. Sergej tactically outclassed all of them.
