Our line up for Bolton?

  1. It should be -

    ------------------Ba------------------

    Jonas------------Vuckic-----------Hatem Ben Arfa

    -------Abeid-------------Cabaye------

    Raylor-------Colo------Perch/Willo----Simpson

    ------------------Krul---------------------

Tiote is definitely not fit, you can see it. I was probably a bit too harsh on him, but he still wouldn't be playing if it wasn't for Guthrie and Gosling both out.

It's Bolton we're playing next. 1 win and 8 losses at home.

I know that's no reason to assume we'll win, but it's a must win now to stop the rot. We need no liabilities, so Tiote should stay out of this one.

Bolton have a **** defense, but they have some decent attacking players, and a Knight is good in the air from set plays.

Instead of playing two big men to defend, we should go for it. Playing a big man to help us defend at the back has done **** all to help us.

We just have to accept the fact that we will concede goals with our current defensive issues. Our best bet is to attack, attack and ****ing attack.

Bolton 2-4 Newcastle. Could see that to be honest.

    HOWAY THE LADS!

Santon for Simpson if fit, this guy is a joke, was out of position all the time tonight. Got to start Williamson

    ----------------Krul-------------
    Simmo---Willo-----Colo---Raylor
    -------Cabaye--Abeid--Jonas----
    ----------Vuckic-----HBA-------
    -----------------Ba--------------

Although that'll leave us with little to no width, our best chances seem to come down the middle anyway so we might as well exploit that. The 3 CM's can spread out when defending to screen the back 4 and that leaves us with 3 out and out attacking players to exploit space that should be left in behind the defence if Bolton attack as a home team should <ok>

Edit: Subs - Elliott, Perch, Kadar, Tiote , Obertan, Best, Lovenkrands

  5. No. Simpson should start. He's not great but much better than Raylor defensively. 2 mins in and Raylor was in the striker position and WBA had a mile of space to run into on the left side of our defense.

If Tiote has done well in training then I would give him the start ahead of Abeid, if not then I agree on playing Abeid. If Santon is fit, then swap him with Raylor (I imagine you would do the same, and your assuming Santon's injured). If Willo is ready then him at the back for Perch. I think Perch has performed well enough, but we desperately need some height in defence.

Edit: Other than that I agree with selection and formation <ok>

I hope that the people leaving Santon out are assuming he won't be fit? Because he is far and away our best full-back and has been our best defender over the last two games.

I like that formation but I'd go:
    Krul
    Simpson Perch Coloccini Santon
    Tiote Cabaye
    Gutierrez BenArfa Vuckic

Completely agree Tash! Although I really hope subbing Santon out was just a preventative measure and its not a serious injury. I'm sick of Raylor getting lost out of position and causing Jonas to play conservatively and dragging Colo out of the centre of the park.

    .....................Krul.......................

    Santon..Colocinni..Williamson..Taylor

    Ben Arfa..Tiote..Cabaye..Jonas

    .................Vuckic.........................

    ....................Ba...........................

That's assuming Tiote and Williamson are fit enough to start. Perch by all accounts has done okay the last couple of games but we need an actual CB in with Colo.

I've put Taylor at LB, if he starts I think he'll fair better than if he comes on as a sub. Santon and Jonas aren't linking up at all when Santon is LB.

Ben Arfa on the wing, Obertan really really really needs dropping now.

Vuckic in the hole. Based on last night, I think he can do well there with his beast of a shot. He's not a CM, he's a CAM and I think he'll be great there. Given Boltons physical style, I think with his stature he'll do better in that position than Benny.

We're complete and utter ****e by the way from crosses and set-pieces. We have conceded like 11 crosses and 8 corners this season.

I expect one team to dominate 10 minutes and the other to dominate the rest of the half, before looking at the score and seeing what both managers do.
